    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

I had noticed corruptions (permanent) in windows with F10 as well... it's so funny (yet sad :( ) that you mentioned that. I had problems using alcohol 120 mounting drives, some files were corrupted in windows, and other stuff... I restored from a ghost backup prior to using F10, and the...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

I have no doubt that this board was pushed out to beat others in the market... at the cost of numerous issues that have continued to surface (memory issues). I would like ALL of you who continue to experience problems to please email me with a detailed description of both the hardware and...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

Well... even with my new board from 2nd RMA... still having memory issues. I'm back to about a year ago when I was having video game crashes with 2 sticks of RAM. So... I upped the voltage to the ram to 2.7v (0.2+v). I also tried something new... upping the voltage +.1 to the AGP...

F9 Seems to be running fine *so far*. I would have to concur with joesmith123456, beware of F10! They should never have released that BIOS, let alone, in the final (and not BETA) release section.

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

I've RMAed my board... and I'm still getting weird artifacts/problems in XP (with the F10 bios, I might add). Here are a couple screen caps of what I'm talking about... This is probably somehow due to the F'd up F10 bios. (I'm running 2 sticks of 512MB Corsair DDR400). Previously, I was...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

A single stick of RAM must always be in Slot 1 (placing it in Slot 2 or 3 will result in a memory-test error beep)... when you use a second stick, you may place it in Slot 2 or Slot 3. I agree about the memory limitations at running at DDR400 speeds... Gigabyte just seems to disregard this...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

I had suspected from the beginning that there was some defect in the memory controller because of stability... I had to keep upping the voltage to the RAM... eventually it got to the point where it could only function with one stick before giving a posting error and freezing up in the bios...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

Bullman... I HAD EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM! I was the first to purchase the K8NS Pro... except now mine doesn't work with ANY memory at all anymore.

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

My mobo finally kicked the bucket. I suspected it was the memory controller (or rather, the flow of power to the memory controller) from the beginning. Had to do a DDR voltage bump with 2 sticks, wouldn't work with 2 sticks (only 1) ... then had to bump the voltage up again... and now it...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

I *wish* I could run two sticks of 512 PC3200 at 333MHz. Problem with mine is severe instability and lock-ups in 3D games with 2 sticks (running underclocked at 333MHz). I've done a complete test on my RAM (Tuff Test) at every inteveral and the results are always that the RAM is in tip-top...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

Sounds very possible that Gigabyte had a bad batch of boards with memory controller problems (in handling two ram sticks). It's just such a pain in the arse to have to RMA the board and swap out the CPU and all the devices. I wish I could just "Trade-in" my two sticks of 512mb corsair pc3200...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

Yup... tried everything, new bios, upping dram voltage, trying 2 different sticks of pc3200... nothing works.

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

Looks like i'll never be able to use 2 sticks or more of RAM... causes crashing and severe instability when I use the 2 sticks of 512 Mb PC3200 Corsair DDR. You think it's possible Corsaiar would send me a single stick of 1 Gb PC3200 for my two sticks of 512 Mb... considering the rather...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

Hmm... Vestan Pance Looks like it VERY WELL might be a "bad batch" of mobos with DRam controller issues that develop over time. Urghh... I really can't do an RMA now (as I have 3 months of college left until winter break... in which case... I won't be able to take my PC home to rebuild)...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

I had been running 2 sticks of 512 Mb at the default (undercloceked) 333 MHz. After 3 months I got persistent crashes in 3D games (still running underclocked at 333)... I upped the DRam Voltage and that solved the problem... for a month. The only way I can run stable now is to have only 1...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

My best advice would be to stick with ONLY ONE stick of RAM. (ie. buy a 1 GHz stick). It might be a while before GigaByte works out the many problems with the memory controller / Bios related issues on this board. If you use more than 1 stick of Ram... you won't be able to run anything...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

After using the +.1 DRAM Voltage for a few weeks... it's going back to the crashing in intensive 3d games... this occurs when there's 2 sticks of my 512 Mb corsair. I pulled out a stick of ram (now only running 512Mb of ram)... and I don't get crashing in games. I'm really annoyed by this...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

This was the response I got to my inquiry: Lol... "run further TESTES" :) I knew the memory controller was on-CPU, but didn't exactly relate it to why I couldn't even get into the Bios ... hmm... maybe setting the DDR Clock to 200MHz made the processor temporarily inoperable. If so... that's...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

Lol... my system doesn't even get past the memory detection screen when I tried to change the DRAM clock to 200MHz manually. I've tried F1, F2, and F4 ... none have solved the 166 MHz DDR "underclocking" issue with my 2 sticks of Corsair PC3200. This was the tech/help request I sent to...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

The newly posted F4 is a Piece OF SH*! ... I went to change the memory to 200 MHz and it froze to the point at reboot where I couldn't even enter the bios again! I couldn't reset the jumpers... I figured the problem was it was stuck at 200MHz and couldn't auto-reset back to 166... so I pulled...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

I was unfortunate enough to install the newest posted F3 official Bios on Gigabyte's site: http://www.giga-byte.com/Motherboard/Support/BIOS/BIOS_GA-K8NS%20Pro.htm It says: Update Sempron CPU code When I tried to boot into windows... it said... in the bios... Could not find OS Be sure to...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

I upped the voltage to the DDR by +0.1 Volt... All the games seem to run without crashing. I wonder if it could be a power leak in the mobo design that diverts power away from the memory and sends it to the hungry AGP bus... that might explain not having the problems with the wimpy...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

I've been using my system for the last month and a half with NO hitches... gaming was perfect for 5 hours at a time... NEVER a single problem. I tried gaming yesterday... My PC works perfectly in every facet except for when I play a Direct3D/DirectX game (for an unpredictable amount of...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

BuLLiTT... were you running the official F2 release posted, because I am. I hit ctrl-F1 and tried to set the memory speed manually to 200 MHz... however... when i rebooted, I heard 2 beeps (which means there's a CMOS error)... and when i benchmarked the RAM speed... it was obvious that the...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

I'm using the newly posted F2 bios (7/6/04). Neither Alt-F1 nor Ctrl-F1 seem to do anything... i've tried it from within the bios boot screen, and from within the actual bios menu after hitting delete. Must I be using the F2d or F3a bios for this memory clock speed adjustment screen to come up...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro

I've been using my GA-K8NS Pro for the last 2 months and haven't noticed that memory speed problem. I just upgraded to the 7/6/04 F2 bios release. I used SiSoftware Sandra for a test and realized the memory bus speed was at 333 MHz. I'm using two 512Mb sticks of Pc3200 and was annoyed that...
