Those are gaming temps, idle temps are much lower. This is my PSU (500W) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341016 No overclocking at the moment. Running memtest

GPU or CPU Heat Issue?

This only happens when I play games (ME1, L4D2, and Starcraft 2 Beta). Every 5 minutes or so, my screen will freeze, turn black for 5-10 seconds, then returns back to normal Started happening right when that heat wave hit the east coast, so I assume this is a heat issue. Also, it went away...

USB2 External Hard Drive

I plan on purchasing an external hard drive to house my media files (videos, music, etc) but I like eSATA and Firewire ports. I was wondering if the transfer rate on USB 2 is fast enough such that I can watch things like videos straight off the external hard drive. Thanks in advance

Power Supply DOA? Or did I mess up?

I didn't flip any of the molex wires, I triple checked. I used an unreliable power supply of mine (kinda old, sometimes fails) just to try to power on the system and it worked. So I'm pretty sure it was the power supply, and I don't think it took anything out with it. I bought a new power...

Thanks for the response. The voltage was selected as 115 rather than 230, which I believe is correct (I am in the US) I double checked, and all connections are the correct direction

I just constructed a new computer today. I had everything hooked up, plugged the power supply in, and flipped the switch on the power supply. The power supply sparked through the back where the fan is and a small puff of smoke came out. I unplugged it without ever trying to turn the computer...

gmail notifier and firefox

I am not really sure. I switched from IE to Firefox after I got gmail notifier, and everything works perfectly for me. Gmail notifier takes me right to my inbox through Firefox. Maybe try reinstalling both? Sorry I couldn't have been much help, but at least I'm giving you a bump.

Computer Won't boot

I'm at a computer lab right now. Don't remember my exact motherboard, but I believe it is a Shuttle Motherboard. Shuttle Motherboard AMD Athlon XP 2500+ 512 megs of Corsair 2700 ram. GeForce4 TI-4200 40 gig and 80 gig hard drives

Apple Processors

This seems like a question that would have been answered before, but I could not find it by searching. I am thinking about purchasing an iBook G4, and I was curious what the 1.33 ghz processor is equivalent to in terms of AMD or Intel processors. Also, what about 800 mhz and 1 ghz processors?

Long Term Storage Options

Just installed new CPU

Hey I would just like to thank every who has helped me with this problem. I just got a new motherboard Shuttle RN35N ultra (thanks mech) and everythign is working perfectly. Computer is formatting and installing Windows XP as we speak. And my ram is 2700 =) Thank you guys again so much

Once I get home from work, I will try taking the motherboard out and testing it with just minimal stuff.. ie motherboard, memory, video card, processor If that doesn't work, I will go to a microcenter or another computer store nearby and get another motherboard and some more ram to test out...

Just installed new CPU

I will try testing the ram and setting my FSB jumper. Resetting the CMOS didnt help. The only thing is, when I put my old 1600+ back in, my computer still did not work. Is it possible that I damaged my ram when trying my barton, so now neither will boot? My heatsink was on the right way. I...

Just installed new CPU

How do I reset my CMOS? I bought a retail processor, so the thermal paste is already on the heatsink where it touches the processor. And the CPU fan is permanently attached to the heatsink. CPU fan was working perfectly. Thanks for all the help so far.

CRT to TV

I have an old 17 inch CRT that I'm not using anymore. I was wondering if there was any way to convert it to a TV without needing a computer to hook it up to. It only has an analog connector, no DVI. Also, it does not have to be able to get cable channels. Broadcast is all I want out of it...

iPod Question

Ok this is probably a stupid question, but I'd like to know the answer anyway. Do I need my actual CDs to transfer music to an iPod? I have ripped mp3s of my music, but my friends have most of my CDs. It would be pretty inconvenient to have to get all my CDs back. Thanks

What CPU for this motherboard (Upgrading)

After further research, it seems to me that the multiplier option only appears in the bios after the processor has been unlocked. My current Athlon XP is not unlocked. So if I get the Mobile Athlon XP, which I understand comes unlocked standardly, I should be able to access the multiplier...

What CPU for this motherboard (Upgrading)

I don't think my bios will let me set the multiplier, but I could be wrong. I found all the other OC options, like setting FSB etc etc, but nothing called "Multiplier" Does it go by any other name? Any other suggestions out there?

I currently have an MSI K7N2 motherboard. It says it is designed for the Athlon XP. Does this mean the newer Mobile Athlon XPs and the Mobile Athlon XP-Ms (are those two the same thing?) will work with the motherboard? What do you recommend I get. I am not against OC, so a Mobile does that...

Duke Students Given Free Ipods!

Financial aid is really nice nowadays. It's not the rich kids going to good schools.. it's the qualified ones. MIT costs 43k a year, and I only have to pay 5K The financial aid packet from duke was similar.
