Well its official. My Powerbook is messed up. I just swapped out my 256MB Hynix Apple-OEM RAM for a Kingston module of twice the capacity. The kingston went right from the packaging form newegg.com into the laptop and it has exactly the same specs as the Hynix...even the same RAM slot...

Use your wireless router as a wireless lan card?

I had a Netgear hub on my desk at work. The damn thing crashed all the time. When i told out IT guy, he just unplugged it and threw it in the trash. If they cant make a simple non-switching hub work, how can they be making wireless-G routers??? Maybe thats why Cisco boutght Linksys :-)

Cisco uBR900 Series Cable modem

Liquid cooling advice needed...

It is true that the DD4 has gotten quieter since I made that post. The high-pitch noise has decreased so much that its difficult to distinguish the DD4 noise from my hard drives/psu at 5 feet. That single bearing definitely got worn in.

I would definitely use 2 RAID-0 arrays. Drive failures are VERY rare nowadays, especially with expensive Raptor drives :-) Using any RAID-1 is a terrible waste for you. RAID-1 on the raptor is a waste of a 10krpm drive that could be used for blazingly fast RAID-0!!!! And RAID-1 on the 250gb...

So whats a good temp delta between ambient and CPU? My ambient temp is 24.5°C (avereaged from two thermometers). The CPU temp is 37°C (Athlon on-die) and the Mainboard temp is 34°C (asus onboard thermometer... mobo is passively cooled) That gives a delta of about 12.5°C between the processor...

Quiet 120 mm fans

$30 is alot for a DC motor that spins some blast molded plastic. I just bought a Panaflo for $15 and its pretty quiet. Hell, if money's not a problem go for the $30 fan :) BTW: If you are even slightly technically inclined, you can wire a rheostat into any fan to control speed, and buy a dozen...

win xp pro - remote desktop - min specs?

100mbps is way more than enough for decent remote desktop. Of course, it wont be anything like sitting at the actual computer. P-90 will be slow but that goes without saying. Dont plan on playing video over RDP because your frame rates will be terrible. The sudio probably wont sync up either...
