theres a site that recently did tests with a case identical in cooling to the R4 and the overall best setup is four fans.
-two in front
-one rear
-one top back position
basically a smooth flowing wind tunnel with equal cfm going in and out. run the fans at 7v if you want to keep things...
i have the HR-02 + Thermalight TY-140 fan using pwm. the fan spins at 500-600rpm idle and no more than 800rpm at full load, it can go faster but my temps(load 55C) don't get high enough to push it. my case is an Fractal R4 using only the two stock fans running at 7v.
My pc is:
3770k
8GB...
I have the R4. It's a very nice case and the only complaints i have are.
-stock fans are not the best for noise. at 12V they are loud, 7V is very quiet but theres a bit of motor noise, 5V is near silent
-the power button, HD light, reset button cable plug things are super cheap and fragile...
I don't plan on taking the Ty-140 off the hr-02. I was considering getting a second one for the back if the case and plugging it into another pwm plug. I'm just not sure how well it will work as a case fan or if a corsair would be a better pick.
How do you find the corsair fan in comparison...
Prime95 brings temps to the mid 50s. Intel burn thing gets as high as mid 60s. No over clock and the case fans are at 12v right now. They're too noisy which is why I want to add more fans so I can run them slower but maintain air flow. Plus I have a 670 in there.
Heatsink is a hr-02 with a...
I have a fractal r4 and I'm looking for two quiet fans to add to the case to get the most airflow with as little noise as possible. I'm going to put the stock fans in the front at 5v so I need one for the back and top.
For the top i was thinking a corsair af140. how are they when it comes to...
So it survives power cycles, good. If I remember correctly when using the tool you have unplug all but the drive you're changing settings on correct? Would that include ssd or just western digital drives?
Quick question. I was removing my corsair hx620 to put it in my new build and noticed a pin missing on the 24 pin connector. It's the 5th pin in and it isn't attached to a wire. I also found this small 1.25" metal tube. The metal is round not squared like other pins. Is this piece supposed to be...
In the anandtech review they use a program to change drive settings including adjusting tler. They don't mention if the setting is volatile or if it survives power cycling. Anyone know?
Using something like check-disk you can still attempt to recover bad sectors longer than tler allows...
I can get a 2TB western digital red for $2 less then the same size green drive. Since the red drives are designed with nas in mind I need to know, are there are any downsides to buying the red over the green in my situation? The drive will be used to store music, movies and other stuff in my...
so yes i can see you dont like the fractal case based on build quality but did it improve cooling? what was your fan setup in with both cases?
the hr-02 macho wont fit the mini unless you swap the side panels around due to the side fan foam. so im leaning a bit more to the r4.
anyone
was originally going to toss the parts into my p180 thats why i bought matx board again. i like smaller cases. i only paid $160 for the board, $260 for the cpu and $286 for the video card.
[qoute]Both the Silverstone PS-07 ($68) and TJ-08E ($99) are fantabulous mATX boxes! The...
Im currently using an Antec p180 mini with my old build (e8400, evga EE GTX 260) and only use the top 200mm fan and rear 120mm fan both set to low. It's been cool and quiet but now im moving onto the following build:
3700k with HR-02 Macho
Asus 670 GTX
Asus maximus V Gene
I'm concerned...
I have two hard drives right now with the win7 power setting at balanced and the sleep option set to never. If I access the d drive drive after say 30 minutes it takes a couple seconds before I can browse the files. Why does it do this? Is it somehow going into sleep mode or is the drive simply...
So im looking for a new keyboard that is quiet, decent for games and preferable has a palm rest. I want to avoid large gaudy looking gaming keyboards and mechanical due to the noise. I was looking at the logitech illuminated keyboard but complaints about key blocking especially w+shift+space...
Is tler and head parking the only software differences between a red and green drive? Basically I wouldn't mind buying a red drive for the supposed improved build quality and altering the settings so it acts similar to a green without head parking.
What settings do you need to change on a green drive so that the head parking would work like in a blue or black drive?
Can the settings of a red or re4 drive be permanently changed so they act like a normal blue/black drive?
Samsung 830 is going to be my OS drive but im looking for something to hold all my music, video and other files. The drive will be accessed on a regular basis and needs to be reliable, quiet and preferably at least as fast as my current WD6400AAKS drives. I was looking at WD green but complaints...
Its a shame evga sent out the sc version. Some of their better versions are using a 680 board which makes me wonder if they can be modded or flashed into a 670.
I managed to track down a thermalright hr-02(non-macho) for $38. this gives me plenty of room to pick my own fan but there's one question. on the thermalright webpage the hr-02 is listed in the socket 1155 collection of heatsinks but in the product description it says it's only compatible with...
1800rpm, not exactly quiet and under volting too much to get the speed down causes motor noise on those fans. the 500 and 800 version are impossible to find as well.
for now nothing but in the furture maybe something moderate but not crazy. my main goal is a heatsink that is good at keeping...
its an option im considering but to make it a truly quiet cooler you need to replace both fans with better 120mm low rpm fans. that bumps the price up a bit and low scythe gentle typhoons seem to be extinct.
Putting together a new machine and im looking for the quietest heatsink option that still cools like a champ. in my current pc i have a thermalright ultra-120 with a 800rpm fan. i would like to keep the noise to a similar level.
Originally i was looking at a thermalright hr-02 macho but...
dude do what i told you to do in my post on the first page and it will solve the problem. the resolutions nvidia put in the drivers are busted all you have to do is re-add the manually with the correct numbers.
i had this problem for a year so i never updated from the last working driver i could find. however after being forced to update for BF3 i figured out whats wrong and how to fix it. basically the resolutions/reresh rates that are included with the drivers are messed up.
follow these steps on...
I've been trying to install new drivers for battlefield3 and every time no matter which driver i use i end up with this problem:
the screen gets messed up as soon as i use a 100 or 120hz refresh rate. the left 15% of the screen is missing and looks to be ghosting/stretched over the rest...
i would try this but the game purchase is holding me back since i cant return it.
did you try the 560 and e8200 with battlefield 3 or was this a previous experience?
i wont be updating my cpu until ivy bridge so it's looking like the xbox version for me.
Anyone got a working q9650...
i have a e8400@stock, a 9800gtx and 4GB of ram. i played the beta and metro ran fine with a mix of low and medium settings at 1280x960. averaged about 30-45fps depending on the area of the map. caspian border on the other hand was 10-25fps with everything set to low and there were a ton of...
I couldn't find the 930SB so i got a FE2111SB instead. Basically the same thing but 22" and cost less too! I got mine from azatek.com, so far no problems other than a stuck power button which im sure i can fix.
Picture quality looks great. It's very close to being as sharp as an lcd and the...
I have one and i'm taking it back to get another one. It seems that the earlier line has lots of back light leakage problems but if you get one with a manufacturing date of 2004-40 or higher you should be okay. You can check yours by holding the menu button for 5 seconds.
Anyway the glare...
While I do not doubt the brightness/contrast is a plus in the 2005's favor, and I concluded the response time (being gray-gray 12ms) is possibly not even an improvement, if it was 1900x1200 it would be an easy choice.
From what i've researched grey-to-grey is better than black-to-white. So...
