I have no idea where you looked at benchmarks, but the Pentium M is no where near as powerful a processor as the A64 3200+, even in 32-bit.

0f02.p00 doesn't work properly with SP2. Also some of the later ones are more Linux friendly.

The Gateway BIOS works in the eMachines m68xx series. The naming convention is different for the BIOS versions, but they are compatible.

That is not true. The machine runs fun at full speed on battery. The battery only lasts about an hour to an hour and a half, ut the machine is just as stable as it is on AC. Do a search for "PowerNow Hack" for ways to control the speed when on battery if you are still SP1. Unfortunately, the...

The wholoe screen is not replaced, but the entire back bezel is. The actual LCD remains intact. The hinge covers and back bezel are all one piece is why the whole thing must be replaced. If the see the damage from your drop, they likely own't repair it due to neglect, but you never know.

Try turning the memory down. When I keep my memory lower, I can get the core a lot higher. When pushing the memory up, I also cannot run my core very high. At 425/225 with processor @ 2.2GHz and memory at 200(400)MHz with 2t disabled, I can edge past 13k in 3dmark '01

Dothan, P4EE, or Athlon64 for gaming laptop? Alienware or Voodoo?

If stretching the battery life is a concern, Dothan. If the most power (period) and best gaming performance is your priority, then no question the A64 is your only choice.

What effect will a higher RPM HD have on battery life?

I recently replaced my 4200RPM drive with a hitachi 7200. Battery consumption has been unnoticeable

eMachines M6805 problems with Win XP Sp2

They are all official eMachines BIOS. The original m6805 BIOS has issues under SP2. The only way I or anyone on notebookforums.com have found to fix the problem is to update to at least the m6809 BIOS (the m6811 BIOS can also be had).

Is it ok to pick up a laptop while it is running? Or put it on an uneven surface?

It depends on how you have it set up. HD power down can occur before or after stand by mode is initiated. I am not 100% sure about the hard drive state when stand by is forced, but I believe the hard goes into power down when forced into stand by mode.
