2 questions about 6800NU

How important is it to run a separate molex connector to the 6800NU without anythign else attached? I am thinking I maybe having some instability at startup because of this and am just wondering if anyone else with 420W PSU successfully did this. Mainly wondering because I will have to rewire it...

6800 restarting issue

That is what happens to me but only when it restarts. I rather not deal with returning stuff if I don't have to. I don't know if I want to flash my bios either as that may not fix the problem anyway. I'm running Award 6.0 probably released around the end of 2002. If nothing else works I may just...

6800 restarting issue

I'm going to try a driver cleaner when I get home and check the power supply even though I'm pretty sure it's 420W. Maybe something is conflicting when Windows Shuts down... oh I don't know :)

6800 restarting issue

Alright I will try that when I get home in 8 hours. I was under the impression that the VIA drivers were for Windows. The glitching (screen covered with colored blocks) or whatever you want to call it occurs as soon as I restart, before it even gets past the initial load screen for the bios.

I got the The latest VIA Hyperion 4in1 drivers. VIA Drivers GA-7VAXP It's a KT400 Socket A and I'm running the 2400+ XP Thoroughbred @ 266 FSB.

I finally got around to hooking up my 6800NU into my system specs are: 2400+ XP, 512 RAM, VIA Chipset (Gigabyte to be a little more specific), 6800NU (replacing GF4 Ti4600). I installed the drivers for the VIA motherboard from the evga.com website and downloaded the 61.76 drivers also from...

Video Card Recommendation

I have very similar specs to yours. I went with the 6800NU. Not many people like the NU on this forum or in general. I'm not a hardcore gamer and plan on playing d3 1024x768 max detail no AA/AF. That's what I play everything at right now. I'll save the $$$ between the GT and NU and buy a middle...

My point exactly. 1GB of ram should be a high priority if your concerned about the future. If his price range is $500 then GT+512 ram. If it's only $400 though I would consider either waiting a little while for a price drop or work some overtime or whatever to be able to pick up the ram. I...

So your getting the 6800GT? I noticed you only have 512 ram. What I may ended up doing since I am in a similar situation is opt for the 6800 NU and increase the ram 512 more. Sure the 3dmarks will be lower but hopefully system performance will increase. I really hate to break it to you but...

6800 NU Best stock cooler?

Not much has been discussed about the 6800 NU. Anyone know if any of the brands out give better than average stock cooling? So I hopefully wouldn't have to upgrade it for a decent O/C.

Thanks for the replies. The difference between 6800GT and 9800 Pro is $100 that's why I am wondering what people thought. I don't wish to 'waste' $100, when I would definitely upgrade the 9800 pro and may end up upgrading the GT next year anyway. After I get a whole new setup that is.
