Sounds like it is some type of interference. I would try a different set of speakers to see if they do it too. Also, try moving the speakers further away from the computer. How close to you have the subwoofer to the machine? Another thing you could try, disconnect the speakers from the computer...

Why does ripping off a band-aid hurt less?

I'm pretty sure that it is a matter of duration. it's the difference between pulling the hair for just a moment (and possibly ripping it out) and pulling on it for a longer period of time. The nerves aren't at like the base of the hair stem, so ripping the hair out doesn't cause pain per se...

Lost confidence in building. Need some things cleared up to get me back on track.

Another note: the general experience with athlon 64 processors is that memory speed is not of utmost importance. Many overclockers have had to lower the speed of their RAM, but performance is not affected very much at all.
