I'll be getting a 15" display. Do you think SXGA+ should be good for that size screen? It's a difficult decision because I am not able to take a look at a Thinkpad at a store before purchasing. Do you know what brand/model the SXGA+ on the 15" display of the Thinkpad would be comparable to?
Did you notice this ghosting on your Thinkpad? I might be getting a Thinkpad R series. How do you like the display? Would you recommend SXGA+ resolution (1400x1050)?
I'm going to be getting a new laptop and would like to install some good anti-virus software and firewall software. What are the best most unobtrusive programs out there?
I remember some years ago that I was running Norton Systemworks, and that really took over my pc.
I was running Panda...
This laptop will be my main pc. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense to just get the dvd-rom on the laptop and purchase an external dvd-burner.
Do you know if a dvd burner has to be both "+" and "-" in order to copy a movie with DVD X copy. If a burner only burns "+"R do you know...
What models of laptops have the best screens? I liked the look of the HPs. On Dell's website they say the Inspiron 8600 is widescreen. Is this a true widescreen? Also, on a side note, does the Mac Powerbook 15" have a widescreen?
I think I'm in need of some serious assistance with a laptop purchase. I thought I had things narrowed down to an "R" series Thinkpad, but I just went to a local electronics store and saw the widescreen displays of the HP notebooks.
Does anyone have experience with them? Are they reliable? It...
I suppose I'll start by saying that I'm first deciding between a "T" series and an "R" series. I'm leaning towards the "R". I don't need it to be "super-portable". Besides size, what are the main advantages of the "T" over the "R"? Does the T have a firewire port?
If I do go with the R, would...
Seems like there are a few options for a video card for a new Thinkpad "R" series. Is anyone familiar with Intel Extreme Graphics 2 or a 32MB ATI Mobility RADEON 7500? Seems as though the latter is more powerful. Is it significantly better? Also, would it use more battery power?
I'm going to purchase an IBM Thinkpad R series laptop and was wondering what resolution and screen size you'd recommend.
The options are for either a 14.1" or 15" screen. The resolution choices are XGA (1024x768) and SXGA+ (1400x1050).
Thanks.
Would the screen resolution matter for DVD playback? I'm getting mixed responses on this one. Someone else said that DVDs play at 720xsomething, so that increased resolution wouldn't really matter.
I'm debating between an IBM Thinkpad R51 and a Dell Inspiron 8600. Of course you can get more for your money with the Dell, but I wanted to get your opinions. Which one would you opt for and why?
Thanks.
I'm going to be purchasing a laptop (most likely an IBM Thinkpad R51). I am currently configuring it and would like to know what hardware to invest in in order to get high quality DVD playback. Does the video card matter a whole lot? How about RAM and screen resolution? One other option that I...
