I know I'm reviving an old topic but a couple of comments that may be helpful. From the sticky: Fisheyes are indeed difficult to get used to. You have to know how to shoot them and then know how to do perspective correction with software. For shooting them, think "opposite of a zoom" so...

Mess of questions on RAID 0, Raptors, 8KNXP, and Windows XP

Reading through here and then reading the comments at NewEgg I can't figure out what RAM works. All I hear is that it's super picky about RAM. Will "OCZ 1024MB (512MBx2) EL DDR PC-3200 Platinum Edition Enhanced Latency Series, Model OCZ4001024ELDCPE" work? By work I mean run in dual-channel etc.

Is a DSH-32 a good hub/switch for a LAN party?

Rule #1 of LAN Parties: Never use a hub. As soon as someone starts leeching someone else's MP3 collection, your games will be hosed. It's cheap and easy to network every PC with a switched port.

GamePC: nVidia GeForceFX 5900 Ultra 256MB Shootout

I'm not a graphics card expert but why did they run every test with at least 2X anti-alias? Not that it's a bad thing I just would like to see how the Geforce stacks up with no anti-alias cranked on... or do these new cards always have it on at least 2x?

Are you super busy this summer or do you have time to party on your PC? If you have time, I'd buy now and enjoy your PC, but if you are really busy I'd hold off until just before you ship out.

? Best way to transfer ~2GB long-distance?

I'd put it in an archive called "File_For_My_Buddy_John.zip" and use Kazaa. That way you don't have to set up an FTP server and you still get nice recovery if the download doesn't go through.

Definately install a floppy if you are going for that retro look. You also might want to hang a tape reader off your PC as well. And a 300 baud coupling modem! You never know when you might need to call up that mainframe and it requires a Hayes 300 Baud coupling modem. One last tip: Always get...

New P4 system running like crap

I've seen a 10 fold perf increase in apps like Unreal Tournament on P4 machines just by installing the motherboard drivers. Remember that PC's nowadays require MB drivers for the chipsets -- especially in smart OS's like XP.

Question about Firewire

I'd agree with the previous poster. What makes your onboard firewire crappy? Is it not OHCI 1.0 compliant? Dirty little secret about firewire is they all work the same. When you buy an aftermarket firewire card you are really choosing between what bundled software you like best.
