  1. Getting burned out on zombies

That was fantastic. I never knew about that.
  2. Most useless app on your iPhone?

I agree that I have never found a use for Game Center, but I do use the iTunes from time to time--usually to download a new episode of a podcast when I haven't synced in a few days.
  3. A major feature I'd like to see in 10.7 (that will never happen)...

I would like to be able to anchor panes from different applications into one tabbed window. Allow me to explain. I am often working on one project that spans multiple applications. Perhaps I am writing a document in Word, while referring to text from several different websites in Chrome...
  4. FCC: Repurposing of the Television Broadcast Spectrum

For my administrative practice class, I'm writing a comment to the FCC concerning a proposed rule that will change the way the frequencies in the VHF/UHF parts of the spectrum are allocated. The notice of proposed rulemaking is here...
  5. iPhone Automatic Connection to Xfinity and Optimum Hotspots

UGH. Yes, this is a great bonus for being a Comcast subscriber. I never seem to go 100 feet in the Greater Philadelphia area without triggering one of the hotspots. But truthfully, it feels just like that-- like I'm triggering a 2.4GHz landmine. First, this usually happens while I'm on the...
  6. Federal law vs City Ordiance

Bingo. The Commerce Clause would not give the federal government the authority to regulate local streets and signage. For the federal government to regulate here, the local signage must affect a channel or instrumentality of interstate commerce, or must substantially affect interstate commerce...
  7. USB drive that fits on keychain?

http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=firefly+usb+drive&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=15427843883931081090&ei=nHtQTZnlBIPDgQfc3K0W&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CEMQ8wIwAg# I keep one of these on my keychain. It's never come off, and I use it all the time. It's compact, durable...
  8. Data Stored on Magnetic Strips - Is it repeated, or linear?

Thanks! I intend to purchase a card reader before I experiment with my one and only access card. I've got to do my homework on those now.
  9. Data Stored on Magnetic Strips - Is it repeated, or linear?

On a magnetic strip, is the data repeated throughout the length of the strip, or is it linear--starting at the beginning of the strip and terminating at the end? If the latter is true, I would assume that the entire strip must be swiped for the data to be read. The reason I ask is this: my...
  10. "America's diversity is its greatest strength"

QFT It's not "racist" to point out that continued cultural integration will result in increased tension between members of a population. Ideally, the immigrant population would bring their unique cultural experiences to American society, but would make an effort to adapt and meaningfully...

  12. YAUCT: Volvo S40 or Audi A4 (both 2000)

Nice! She looks good! One of my favorite features is the leather wrapped steering wheel. It's got a nice, thick, solid feel to it.
  13. YAUCT: Volvo S40 or Audi A4 (both 2000)

Compared to the Volvo seats--which are considered by some to be among the best in the industry--the old C is not very comfortable. I drive a Jetta, which has similar leather seats to the A4. I think they're kind of stiff and, again, prefer the Volvo. The new C (after 2001) is a nice, solid...
  14. YAUCT: Volvo S40 or Audi A4 (both 2000)

    Edit: double post.
  15. YAUCT: Volvo S40 or Audi A4 (both 2000)

Correction: The 2000 Volvo is based on the Mitsubishi Charisma platform, not the Ford P1. It's a solid, fast, and classy car that's built amazingly well. Even after Ford began implementing their platforms in Volvos, the build quality remained consistent. Ford's integration of Volvo into its...
  16. What would get your 16 year old daughter as a first car?

Black Jetta :P A 2000 Black Jetta was my first car, and at 21, I'm still driving it. It's more solidly built than the Japanese competitors, and is probably safer (you'll have to check the ratings, but I'm fairly certain that the Jetta is consistently ranked high on safety comparisons).

  19. For future reference, can we refer to the "Wii" as the "Revolution"?

I can't stand looking at the word almost as much as I hate saying it.
  20. Mac OS X/Win XP printer sharing

HP 1300. Both machines have that driver installed.
  21. Hynix and TJS RAM

Any good? I just got two 512 modules- one from each manufacturer.
  22. Mac OS X/Win XP printer sharing

I've set up a printer for sharing on my Windows XP machine, and have located that printer on my Mac. When I print a file, nothing happens. The Windows print monitor recognizes that a file from a networked computer is queued to print, but never actually prints the document. Any ideas? I assume...
  23. Network printing from Mac to PC

I've set up a printer for sharing on my Windows XP machine, and have located that printer on my Mac. When I print a file, nothing happens. The Windows print monitor recognizes that a file from a networked computer is queued to print, but never actually prints the document. Any ideas?
  24. Powerbook memory test

I just installed 2x512 SODIMMs. Each chip is made by a different manufacturer. Performance seems a little choppy since installing them. Is there any way I can test the functionality of the chips? OS X positively reads both, but I imagine it's still possible one could be malfunctioning.
  25. NEW Pearl Jam CD $9.99 at BB

$9.99 for Pearl Jam? Blah. Price gouging.

  27. Check out my band's first demo

Thanks guys - I appreciate the kind words. We've college kids who been playing together for a couple months. I think we've all been with our instruments for over 6 years. None of us our virtuousos, but we know the instruments well. :music:
  28. Check out my band's first demo

http://www.myspace.com/frenchgirlsmusic We did this with a Powerbook, GarageBand, a little preamp, and a mediocre recording mic. It's very raw--I'd even consider it a "pre-demo," but was a cool experiment with GarageBand. If you have a few minutes, check it out.
  29. If you could have mutant powers.....

    The power to move you.
  30. Free Sample of Isopure and Tshirt

Got mine about a few days after I ordered it. The mix was effing nasty, and the shirt is dumb looking, but it was free, so I win.
  31. Dungeon Man 3

    This thread rules.
  32. Are there technical limitations that prevent the integration of AM tuners into portable audio devices?

I always see FM receivers included in portable media devices--most recently in the new Apple FM tuner for the iPod. I know many people have forgotten about the AM band, but I listen to AM talk radio frequently. It would be nice to have that capacity on my iPod. What prevents electronics...

  35. Cold Remedies

Thanks doodz. It's mostly a sore throat/post nasal drip. But I'll try the tea, rest, water, and decongestant. Haha- what a world I live in...taking medical advice from a surgeon avatar.
  36. Cold Remedies

Nothing sucks more than a cold in Spring time. I started taking Cold-Eeze today, and someone else recommended Airborne. Does anyone have a testimonial to share about either of these two products, or something else maybe?
  37. Am I becoming emo? I like "Panic! at the Disco"

They're catchy, but not too original. I know he was kind of taken under the wing of Pete Wentz--which kind of makes their similarity to Fall Out Boy more suspicious. Their sound, lyrics, and song titles are all similar. In any case, neither of those bands are emo. They're pop punk. So, aside...
