Just to clarify, the mouse doesn't spontaneously click when you touch it. The mouse physically clicks down just ilke a normal mouse (same feedback as the old apple mouse). The touch sensors only determine which side of the mouse you clicked on, they don't actually generate a click action.

Oooh cool. Jobs announced Rosetta for running PPC apps on Intel, which is "Binary instruction translation, in real time."
I wonder what performance is like.
keynote coverage that works
Jobs has been demoing OS X 10.4 on a P4 system, so it looks like we're dealing with vanilla x86.
edit: fat binaries confirmed... Xcode 2.1 will compile x86 and PPC universal binaries.
I run 1600x1200x32 on my Mac Mini with no lag, and no slowdown; I'm not sure what you're talking about in terms of lag. I just recently threw a WD1600JB into a FireWire enclosure and have been booting off of that; the hard drive boost is a big performance jump.
Just wanted to clarify some issues and misinformation.
Fuel economy
Sucks. Expect aruond 15-18 mpg in the city, worse if you drive the car like you should. 1.3L displacement aside, rotaries gulp fuel. But it's worth it when you rev to 9K and enjoy it.
Cold start issue
Rotaries have been...
I regularly drive an A4 and an RX-8, get the RX-8 for fun, but get an A4 (or the TSX) if you plan on driving where there's snow. The RX-8 is a beautiful car that handles like a dream. All the benefits of a sports car with seating for 4. Can't go wrong, I love my 8.
The official policy on upgrades though is that you're only eligible for new customer prices w/rebate if you've been on a $39.99 plan or higher. At the $29.99 level though you pay new customer price, sans rebate, + $35. Retentions can give a $29.99 customer a >$39.99 upgrade price.
Never underestimate the power of retentions. I was in contract thru September, but still got new-customer pricing on a new phone as well as a new plan... national 1000 min + free night/weekend $39.99.
Call customer care at 611, press 3 at the prompt, and you'll get sent to Retentions. Say you're out of contract and are looking to upgrade to a new phone, either from T-Mo or elsewhere. Shouldn't be too hard to get new-customer pricing on a new phone. You do automatically if you're on a 39.99...
I'm getting a buzzing noise on my system that seems to somehow be tied to CPU load. Can anyone else duplicate this?

I've got an older 667 Titanium PowerBook and it's the most reliable machine I've got... I'm aching for a 17" PowerBook.
BTW, I'm a Windows user all the way; but Apple and their laptops can't be brushed aside. Beautiful machines. Their implementation of bluetooth is great; there are programs...
Here in Royal Oak, MI (near Detroit), they've got undercover Camaros... with low-profile light bars disguised as ski/bike racks on top... The only telltale sign is a gaudy american flag custom paint job.
Do I believe in the Church? No.
edit: Referring primarily to the Catholic Church (hence the capital) but have issues with most organized religions.
Do I believe in God? I don't know.
But if you're looking for a relatively interesting thought on it, St. Thomas Aquinas put forth the Quinque Viae...
LaLaLand
Here's why no one will scan the bottom of their mouse for you, spelled out, in black and grey:
1) Why should anyone do the work for you? If you need a replacement mouse it ought to be worth it for you to spend a dime on a xerox of the defective mouse. That's certainly cheaper than a new...
Sorry to resurrect, but i should like to point out that I submitted both the $30 and $20 rebates for the MR814 and both show as being approved... $9.99 AR ... w00t
I've read all the terms and conditions and it looks to me as if I'm eligible. The T-Mobile rebate form even instructs you in sending multiple rebate forms for different numbers ("Maximum of five rebate per name or address...")
And the Amazon one says explicitly that it's fine, so I'm going to...
rootaxs:
I'm not so sure current customers can't activate a new line. The $200 Amazon rebate explicitly states "If you already have an existing account and wish to obtain a second line of service, you will qualify for the rebate if you purchase or activate the phone with a new service plan."...
