I work at a college where we only purchase remanufactured toner cartridges for our army of HP Laserjet printers. I've not seen any problems outside of what I'd expect if I were purchasing just as many "original" toner cartridges.
Besides, by using recycled cartridges, you're saving oil...
The way I used to do this was to modify a XP setup script and change the following:

ProfilesDir = "C:\Users"
I've tried replacing registry keys and ran into some pretty wierd errors. The above method seems to work best.
I had a problem with Vundo/Virtumondo. I used several different removal utilities and other spyware programs, but the one that finally got rid of it for me was SUPERAntiSpyware
You could decrease the amount of space vista uses for system restore:
vssadmin Resize ShadowStorage /For=C: /On=C: /MaxSize=2GB
That command would set your C: drive to use a max of 2GB.
Additionally, I think you can just disable system restore, but you can still create restore points...
If the shortcut is missing, you can also enter 'mstsc' (Microsoft Terminal Services Client) to open RD.

Some academic institutions have partnerships with Microsoft, and you can download many of their products for free.
I downloaded Vista, Server 2003, XP, and a score of other various Microsoft applications through this method.
Pairs 2 & 3 are swapped in a crossover cable; This way the transmit pins on one end go to the recieving end on the other, otherwise both cards would be transmitting over the same pair, and receiving on the same pair.

Click on Start Applet, and punch in a zip code or continent, and it will approximate when you should be able to sight the space station (or various other satellites).

Recently, I noticed web pages were taking somewhat long to load on my desktop, between 15-30 seconds.
My computer, and a wireless AP are connected to a switch, which is connected...
It does make sense that it has something to do with a counter, because the value slowly increases (or decreases :P). I'm running the test again right now.
What software would it be then? I've rebuilt TCP/IP and Winsock, but the issue returns. I've already tried testing with my software firewall disabled, but I wouldnt think that would affect a loopback test anyway.

I had the oportunity to install and use some Xerox Color Phasers, and they do indeed rock. Nothin' like that crayon smell during warm-up.
I was in a bit of a similar situation with six servers and seven wireless clients on a Linksys WRT54G, and performance was not very good (and I too had to power-cycle it frequently); that was with the Wireless router functioning as a DHCP server, router, and AP.
