I am trying to find client software for a Shiva 3105 VPN Gateway. I was given this VPN, I managed to get in and reset its passwords yet I need the VPN client software to connect. I tried the website, however a support contract must exist. The product is end-of-life, I would just like to fool...

USB ACTIVE EXTENSION

You should be able to find an 'active usb cable'. We needed one for that purpose and purchased via web. Works fine!

CPU COOLING ISSUE

Try to lower your MAX MTU settings on your router. Lower it slowly and test, you might have a 'black hole' router? Might be worth a shot. Peace!

Haha This reminds me of my old class. A classmate scripted the netsend to repeat and well the other person was frantic to stop the noise that interrupted the class. He wasnt too pleased afterwards :)

Limiting DHCP Access by MAC Address

Hi Wyck. Perhaps you could set the dhcp scope to a range that would allow the total hosts that you wish to allow the assignment of IPs to. You can then create reservations via MAC address. I believe you can do this in Win2k Server. Hope this helps!

Im not sure if this will help, but... When using Terminal Services I had to lower the MTU on the router because the packets were being dropped. Try that out.

For a 200 node network I would strongly suggest some server software. You want to do what the server can do. User accounts/customized security... I mean we can cut corners but you shouldn't cut this one. A 200 node network without a server; I can say I have never heard of that in my x years...

Seems ive stumbled back a bit late! Make sure the master browser issue is solved. Verify if they are all in the same workgroup. Get lmhost going if you want to resolve by name. Try pinging. Do this near the router and then go further away, perhaps range is an issue?

Router problem with ADSL modem

Set the router to hand out dhcp addresses. then set the NIC's on the PC's to accept DHCP. Make sure you dont need any open ports or you will likely be taking a trip to Hull again hehe. Good luck and think it all out before doing anything as its not next door to home for you.

XP-SP2 Slow LAN between 2 PC's. Cable Modem OK.

Try to change the nic in the problematic machine. Ensure that the pc's are set to 100mbps autonegotiate. If you are using names, make sure they are set in the lmhosts. You should see ~9 Megabyte / second xfer.

Check the cable. Ping the loopback address. Ipconfig /all the DC and webserver and look for inconsistencies. Check your default gateway. Have you made any computer accounts for the joining machines? Hope this helps!
