I took ccna classes about 5-6 yrs ago when my high school offered the classes and honestly the class training wasn't the best. I mean I can even read a book on my own. The only part that I liked was the lab part of the class where we actually worked with various Cisco equipment. I do not have...
I have used Sprint since I have my personal cell phone service through them but used the phone as model option and the speeds are comprable to a dsl connection. The same goed with Verizon wireless' laptop cards, which I have used through my employer. The speeds mostly vary on factors such as...
some options:
as mentioned used different password levels
consider using MAC filtering
maybe don't boradcast your wireless network's name
make sure you are not using the default password that the router is assigned when you first set it up
under the remote desktop options, there is a option to leave the sound at the remote pc. by setting this option the sound played from you main pc will not be played on the pc you are remoting from. i have a similar setup, but no one else uses the pc i have setup for this.
I agree with RebateMonger. For that reason, I have setup the PC i remote into at home with ftp services as well. A free FTP file server program is Filezilla. Good luck OP!
i've used Himachi for this kind of purpose (in my case pretty much for grad school papers so I can view or edit them at work when I have time and then save it back on my home pc's drive). VNC will work as well, but if you don't need to use your remote pc for anything except to just access files...
just wanted to give some input. this option does work very well. just make sure to follow the instructions and you will be fine. Thanks JackMDS and JRock!
usually when you log into your router's admin config setup you can see any mac addresses of devices connected to your network, some even show the PC's name
are you sure their PCs don't have any firewall software like Norton Internet Security? I have helped a friend with the same issue and it was due to firewall software.
i have been in the same position. pretty much use "my network places" and browse to the computer that has the printer. when you view that computer it will show any shared devices/files. there it should list the printer. double click on the printer and it will setup to work with your laptop.
If your pc at home is always connected via some broadband connection why dont you use some remote control software like UltraVPN, which lets you remote to your home pc by using a java applet. I've used it at various places to check personal email and it works great.
Just wanted to give some input. I recently graduated in may 05. The make it or break it for getting a job that pays well for college grads is if you experience or not. Alot of my friends who graduated with me never had any internships since most wouldn't offer any type of pay. What they didn't...
1. not too sure
2. download the latest driver and install those. then you won't need to install any drivers from the disks or cds, but you may want to install the software from the cds or disks
3. does the cd have an autorun file on it to let it autorun? i think there is an option...
i have used this on several of my own personal systems as well as systems at work and have been happy. it searches through the registry pretty well when compared to other programs.
just wanted to give an update. i finally got it to install a boot loader properly. i tried something really simple, which i should of tried from the start. i disconnected my spare hard drives (from the power supply cable) and only kept my winx xp hard drive and the hard drive i wanted to install...
i think i figured out what i was doing wrong. the installation was seeing my largest hard drive as my boot hard drive, but that is not the case. I have win xp on an 80 gig drive instead of my spare 160gig drive. I installed linux on my old 20 gig drive. The installation kept placing the boot...
i agree with everyone as well. might as well spend the extra money now so it will last you longer. as far as motherboards, i got an asus motherboard for my A64 cpu. i have no complaints regarding the cpu or motherboard at all. my friend who purchased the same cpu decided to get a MSI motherboard...
just wanted to give an update. i reinstalled fedora core 3 and still i have the same problems. this is very weird. i got it to install perfectly on my machine at home, but wanted a copy on my system at my apt at college. i tried the rescue cd and that didnt help much. i still cant get a boot...
as far as making it secure you have several options. you can enable mac filtering, enable the option that wireless users must input a key in order to access your network, or you can even disable the broadcasting of your SSID name.
If I remember correctly I think some newer thumbdrive models (maybe it was sandisk o pny) now come with some sort of security software installed onto the flash drive, where in order to access any of the files on the drive a correct user defined password must be entered.
Hey Everyone,
I've been interested in learning more about Linux so I downloaded the latest version of Fedora Core 3. I have my primary hard drive with the Windows XP OS, and then used a slave drive for my Linux OS. Both drives are on a cable to the primary ide slot. The installation for...
I have opened and used the uniden units I recieved and I don't have any complaints. Yeah it may not be sony or panasonic, but these phones are packed with features. Plus they are small and light weight compared to my older sony 900 megahertz digital phone. Plus they were free, so you surely...
I don't personally have much experience with this particular drive, but my friend installed two 74 gig WD raptor SATA drive in a raid configuration and he loves his system's performance. He got the drives used from one of our friends and so far its been working great.
coupon 38279398 didnt work online, so i called their customer service line and the rep was able to do an over ride to get me the $20 off. the cost of the hard drive at time of purchase was now 89.99 then there is a $20 mail in rebate, making the end cost $69.99. not bad for a 200 gig hard drive.
i sometimes prefer going with a full unisntall of the old version, rebooting the system, then installing the new version. sometimes when upgrading old files that won't be used are sometimes still kept, thus wasting space on your hard drive. if you are concerned about hard drive space then...
sending and receiving faxes works just fine. i got this partially for that reason as well. now i don't have to worry about someone being on the phone when i expect a fax or having to wait for others in the house to get off the phone just to send a fax. lol
i dont think there are any major security concerns for a home user with the setup you wish to have. i think in a corporate environment voip lines go through firewall connections and such just because of security issues.
my friend had a similar issue with his linksys wireless B router. i upgraded his router's firmware and ever since then he has always been on aim w/o any problems. try upgrading your router's firmware. if you have alot of data i wouldnt reformat just yet. if a firmware upgrade doesnt work, try...
while your system is booting up hit F8 and select last last known good configuration, see if that has a system rollback before when all these problems started. if that works then properly then reboot to make sure the same configuration is booted up again. if all is well then i would maybe...
this may seem lame, but have you tried putting in any regular cd to see if windows can even access that drive and read it. check under device manager to see if the computer sees the drive. sometimes other devices sharing the same ide cable as the drive can cause problems. try one drive at a...
How long did it take to receive your equipment? 3 days
Was install/setup difficult? very easy. i just connected a straight through cat 5 cable from their "gizmo" to one of the ports on my switch
Which cable/DSL provider are you using? Comcast cable internet
Do you also have a...
