i have two hdtv's but it will probably mostly be at work. i just want to be able to record the ppv movies at my job. s-video would be fine. as i said before, i have an ati tv wonder pro card.
i plan on using a windows xp variant. i was thinking of the nec burner. yes i need a mobo but it should work with agp cause i want to keep it as cheap as possible.
i have an ati 9600xt and an ati tv wonder pro pci card already and a couple of harddrives. what else do i need and what would you recommend? should i go sff? how much ram is enough? i don't plan on playing games, just recording movies and burning them to dvd's.
i appreciate all your help.
i've always bought maxtor's and never had a drive fail on me. mind you i bought a lacie external drive tgat crapped out on me when i opened the encloser i discovered it was a western digital.
i have the Tt tsunami w/ window. even if you don't like flash (and i think it is understated myself) you will like how cool it is 2 120mm fans and a 92mm fan on the window blowing directly on the cpu, the front 120mm fan has a filter to keep it relatively clean (though the window fan constantly...
i have the alcu version of this hsf on an asus k8n-e deluxe mobo in a tsunami case (see pic in sig). it is huge and it fits, and yes, the first ram slot is a little tight.
the tsunami is light, therfore thin. i don't think it would be a good choice unless your the type of person who is careful transporting theor hardware.
i am in the same position as you. i have a 200gb sata drive which is my primary and a 160gb ide drive. both drives are seenas 137gb (or whatever the sp1 limit is) i've installed sp2 but this has not recovered the lost space. i don't want to reinstall cause i too have everything the way i want it...
so far this has been a friendly discussion about cases based on opinion. for some reason, akira, you seem to be making this out to be a "mine is bigger then yours". i am happy for you, i'm glad you have found pc nirvana with your collection of parts and your willingness to share it with the rest...
you know akira, thats the great thing about having options. i am happy with what i have (admittedly, the lian-li case appealed to me after a bought the tt).but i must say i have no buyers regret. i had a dell before i built this rig and i am spoiled by how quiet the dells are (after all it's...
lian-li is as i understand it, excellent, but i don't for any moment feel that the tsunami is a bad case on the contrary, after some time on this forum and seeing others temps, i have to say that the tsunami (particularly w/ window and window mounted fan is probably one of the coolest cases out...
two days later my load temps are 50c and 35c idle. it seems to be dropping daily. it still is in the realm of stock hsf numbers though. i just added an arctic-cooling silencer 4 for my x800 pro.
another thing i have to factor is that though it is winter my apartment is very hot. it is very...
i have the thermaltake tsunami, which i love by the way. but i still have pangs of regret that i didn't get the lian li v1200 case. i had to save money wherever i could.
i just received my silencer as well as thermaltake's ddr ram heat spreaders. installation was very simple and straight forward. i can feel warm air being disapated out the vents from the silencer. i guess i have to wait a week for the arctic silver 5 to settle in. the silencer gives the hefty...
algere, actually, no. i followed the instructions of the zalman hsf and spread the as5 over the entire cpu. i did put a small drop about the size recommended by AS (as i just read their instructions).
i have the d70 and it's a great camera. i have three lenses. the kit lens (18mm-70mm) a nikon 50mm 1.8 fixed lens and a sigma 80-300mm zoom with macro. i am a novice photo enthusiast and i have everything i need with this setup.
why not rent the cameras and get a feel for them and if you plan...
admitedly the room in which the computer is in is pretty warm, but as said before the stock hsf game 34c idle, 50c under load. the mobo was 32c and about 39c under load.
with my cnps7700 and arctic silver 5 i am at 55c/38c under load (cpu/mobo).
my temps since i posted have dropped to 55c under load using prime95. i don't look forward to having to take my board out again and doing this. still no one has answered me. will my temps slowly drop as the as5 settles in? 55c is a good 4c higher then before with the stock hsf.
as far as i know it should not be difficult either way, both would have been melted and spread over the cpu. if you use isopropal alcohol (at least 90%) it will just wipe off. i just did this no more then an hour ago for the first time.
it's funny cause i just installed the zalman cnps7700 to my athlon 64 3400 (mobo is asus k8n-e deluxe) with as5. anyone who has read up on this hsf knows it's huge. my temps under load jumped up to a high of 70c and have now settled to 55c. this is still 4degrees higher then the temps i hasd...
is this normal, is there a break in period for the as5 to spread and do it's stuff? i spread a thin layer over the cpu as instructed. only thing was that the back plate of my mobo did not come off so i used it instead of the one supplied but it installed well and it is pretty snug with the cpu...
i have the same case you do. my temps are 32c for cpu and mobo at idel and 52c for cpu 41c mobo at load. i just bought the zalman cnps7700 cpu cooler and this arctic fan for my x800pro. one of the selling points to me is that this cooler is specific to our card, not a one size fits all cooler...
