Do I need to install AMD dual core patch + MS hotfix?

Hi - I have a new Opty 165 and A8N-sli Premium m/b. Installed XP w/ Sp2 and it looks like it detects two CPU's correctly (shows both cores in device mgr, and both cores in task mgr) - do I still need to install the AMD dual core patch? And the MS hotfix? everything seems to be running just fine...

Super-Pi Question

well - put super-pi into two folders, and presto - no probs whatsoever! Glad my first attempt at o/c'ing wasn't a failure after all!

yeah - I do the same with Prime95 - shoulda done it with this too. It's a relief actually - was devastated my rather modest o/c came up with errors on Super Pi and not on Prime 95. Look forward to getting home today and re-testing :)

thx for the reply. It's pretty instantaneous - about 1-2 secs or so after starting. I'll try running it from two folders to see if that works - doh! - should have done that to start with! I'm using it to test overall stability after o/c'ing - so not the isolation phase, but the combined...

Super-Pi Question

When I run two instances of Super-Pi (one for each core), and I get an error on one of them - how do I know if this means my memory is overclocked or if I don't have enough Vcore etc.? Is it just trial and error to see what fixes the error, or does Super-Pi mainly test the memory - meaning I...

Blockbuster On-Line

I've been with BB for about 6 months now. Was great during the first month free, then after that it started to take 5-6 days to turnaround movies and was starting to piss me off. However the last 3 months or so it's really improved. I send in a movie on Monday, get a new one by Wednesday/thurs...

hmmm, yeah, that's what I tried, but when playing Ut2004 I noticed framerate was bit choppy (not too bad but noticeable), and then it crashed on me with BSOD. Could that be b/c I was using stock voltages? do you think I need to raise voltage a bit? And if so, what voltage do I modify? Vcore...

thx for the reply! I guess the one thing I am mainly confused about is the Ram dividers. I have PC3200 ram, so if I increase fsb to 250 (say), what divider should I use so I am not overclocking my ram?

Ok - been mucking around a bit and got up to 2.25 with the following settings: FSB: 250 Mult: 9 Mem: 333 (2-3-2-5) HTT: 4 All at stock voltages and stock hsf. So now I am at least a little bit above the 4400 X2 :) I still have no idea what I'm doing - how can I get it up to 2.5...

thanks for the reply :) yeah - that's what I was afraid of. If I get a 5.1 receiver I should be able to hook my current speakers up to it though right? I guess I will just keep the DTT receiver as a backup... SO I guess I can use just any 5.1 receiver? May have to check the bargains forums...

Thanks! Well, according to that site, my speeds are 1300 / 370 !! Guess that for some reason the Verizon speed test isn't as accurate - go figure. Well, nothing much to do now except wait till they start rolling out the 3mbit download speed :)

My new service is now up and running! When I use the speed test on DSL reports I consistantly get speeds of around 1281/374, but when I use the infospeed.verizon.net speed tool I get speeds of around 1320/161. Which one of these speeds is correct? Am I getting the 384 upload speed or not...
