weird USB problems regarding game controller

yea I tried that too. I also updated the bios on the board tonight...same problem :( I'd use a game port controller if the cable were long enough, but I keep my PC's in a closet and use a KVM from about 20 feet away

Trouble connecting to server through router!!!

bump for a homie. I think the problem he's having is his FTP client is going into passive mode, but I'm not sure why. it does it with all clients as well.

Question about the watchful eye of Big Brother?

Wireless Networking Questions

802.11b is 11mb/sec so your wireless connection (assuming its only you using it) will be much faster than your internet connection. its also 2.4 ghz and you can switch channels if you run into interference trouble. Weather shouldn't affect it at all.

IBM Thinkpad 390E bios questions

picked up a 390E offa the FS/FT section about a week ago..and it came with a small 3gb HD so I decided to swap my travelstar 12gb out of my other laptop into it. One thing I've noticed is that when going into the bios it asks for a password..if you leave it blank and hit enter you go right in...

PCAnywhere won't work for me..as I'd need it to be accessible via a web page, like VNC can. It's been awhile since I've messed with it, but can you set VNC to create virtual connections, rather with interfacing with the locally logged on user?

due to running an All In Wonder in my machine, I cannot use Terminal Services (bummer). I need some software that allows virtual logons to desktop environments by username like Terminal Services uses, but I can't use Terminal Services. Any suggestions? OR, how can I fix this issue with...

Ok, here's the deal...yesterday I bought a Sony G400 from a guy for 40 dollars, and he stated the display was faded..and indeed it is. Everything appears really washed out...the colors are pastel looking, and the black is greyish contrast and what not does not help, neither does tweaking the...

When using IE I occassionally get a popup that keeps bothering me to upgrade to windows.net bla bla bla insert Microsoft spiel, and its annoying. I'm using Windows XP obviously, but is there anyway to get this to stop, short of actually installing the .net crap?

I installed the new drivers released on 8-1. PC has been working fine since installing these drivers. They were the reference drivers on ATI's site.

these are the ONLY drivers that I could get to work. The rest would lock me up in XP right as it would load the login screen with a black screen.

now here's the problem I'm getting. I tried the Plutonium drivers mentioned above. Rebooted, the XP scroll screen came up..then it just black screened when it went to load the user selection screen. Tried ATI's powered by drivers. Same problem. Booted to safe mode, removed all drivers...

you know Neo...I was having problems with a different AIW in a diff machine, and you just answered that question too. It refuses to work the tv tuner. Says 'make sure the driver is properly installed' bla bla. I'll try what you mentioned.

Picked myself up a new 8500 the other day...removed all my old Nvidia drivers, put the card in, and fired the machine up. Downloaded the catalyst drivers from ATI's site, went to install them, and I get the 'inf error video driver not found' error. so I think maybe I got a corrupt driver...

simple MIRC dcc send issue when behind Win2k ICS

ok, thanks for the info..I notice the 128mb version is clocked at 250 mhz...will this ram clock up just as high as the 64mb version? And I assume the 128mb card comes with the converter since it doesn't say it does not?

Fuji Finepix 2600 2.1mp 3x op zoom for $237 - $15 = $222...hot deal?

I picked up a 4700 zoom on ebay for 325 bux a month or so back. I know it doesn't relate to this camera, but I love mine. Fuji makes a great camera IMO.

corrupt FAT32 partiton. Scandisk finds no errors. Looking for 'super' scandisk tool?

Have a bootable FAT32 partition with my WinXP install on it. The other night I rebooted, and somehow my boot partion got corrupted. I get a 'corrupt boot.ini, attempting to boot from c:/windows' error, then the machine just restarts. I used a bootdisk to get into the drive, and everything...
