That is due to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stefan-Boltzmann_law. The heat generated from the pressure is released in to the environment. But some people that think in small gas canister scale, probably think the inside of the earth is cold too.
I also found the following:
At one standard atmosphere (1000mb), on Venus is at altitude of 49.5km.

And at 49.5km the temperature is 340K, about 40K degrees above Earth.

Also atmospheric...
But that totally ignores Amonton's Law "P a T", "the pressure of a gas is directly proportional to its temperature, of constant volume"
http://chemed.chem.purdue.edu/genchem/topicreview/bp/ch4/gaslaws3.html#amonton
T(k) = 273.15 * P(atm)
And Charles Law "At any constant pressure, the volume...
So, if Mars is so much further from the Sun than Earth and it gets a faction of energy from the Sun as the Earth receives, then is the sun warming the Earth too?

New gullies that did not exist in mid-2002 have appeared on a Martian sand dune.
That's just one of the surprising discoveries that have resulted from the extended life of NASA's Mars Global Surveyor, which this month began its ninth year...
It sounds like you have 4.10s. ;) Ihave stock gears again. I use to have 4.10s, which were nice with the DOHC V8 engine that doesn't make peak torque until 4,000-5,000. I put the 3.27 back in with a Eaton LSD, which really doesn't slip at all, for a turbo setup that I haven't finished. I blew...
I would like to add, most manual transmissions are 1:1 in 4th gear. Any gear above 4th is an overdrive or less than 1:1. In my 2001 Cobra 0-100 is done through 1st-3rd gears. 3rd gear (1.33:1) tops out at about 125mph with my 3.27 rear end gears.
Manual transmissions have less power loss than an auto. All else being equal a manual can out accelerate an auto, but there is more to drag racing than just the amount of power at the wheels; weight transfer, tractions, how the power hits the tires.
My 2001 Cobra with a manual,. It will have...
When you post something that doesn't stimulate people's thinking, but only brings out jackasses to tell you that you are stupid. You should be pleased that they looked at your post. For wasting their time, they are happy to bash you for posting it. The amount of negative posts you receive on...
I guess I should have added this to the other greenhouse gas thread to make it more valid for you.
The world can't reduce consumption without reducing production of fossil fuels, we live in a free market economy.
They are cheating in the animation. The red and green hypotenuse in not the same angle as the blue and orange hypotenuse. The red/green triangle is 8x3 and the blue/orange is 5x2, which are not equal proportions.
I read in the news this morning that OPEC is going to increase oil production by 2 million barrels a day.

What about the solution to global warming? Shouldn't the UN encourage OPEC to reduce oil production 30% to 1990 levels, per the Kyoto treaty? But none of the OPEC members signed the treaty.
I didn't say that "because pure CO2 doesn't heat up as fast as air, CO2 isn't to blame for greenhouse effect". I noticed that CO2 retains it energy better. That should allow for higher average temperatures, such as at night. You are only looking at half the equation or half of a 24 hour period...
Why not?
What is the experiment then, that I can use to measure the temperature different between a high CO2 content atmosphere and a CO2 absent atmosphere?
I am thinking of this for an experiment for my kid. My idea is to build two air tight boxes from Plexiglas. One filled with CO2 and the...
Actually, I was looking for something like a science fair project. Which when I search for science fair, I found what I was looking for.

I know how a green house works, but it is its ability to maintain energy and controll the lost of the energy by conduction, convection and radiated heat, not the reflected IR light.

Anyone have a link explaining carbon dioxide in...
I would like to correct your mobile phone power statement. Since hand held phone have been small enough to have the transciever next to your head, versus being a bag phone, the power output has been limited to 0.5W. Most phones that a company I know of, have power less than that. Most phones are...
Crud, if Intel releases a processor with a on board memory controller, that will mean a new platform and chipset. They just released their 775? socket. So, releasing a new platform will tell their customers that the current platform is crap, don't buy it.
I just bought off newegg.com a Mobile 2600, Abit NF7 Ver 2.0 (not the S), Corsair XMS 3200 memory ($315 shipped). I am waiting on my Thermalrght SP-97 and Tornado. But I have it running at 225*10.5 @ 1.65V with 2.5-2-2-7 memory timings using Merlin's Ubr D25 CPC OFF Bios. Load is 49C all day...
All these articles beating up on Nocoda is getting old. Yeah, we know the processor sucks. It is another attempt to combined band aid engineering and marketing propaganda. We can get excited about the same thing only so many times, product of the instant gratification society.
I think the lack...
