Where's a good place to read alla bout the L1, L7, etc. bridges?

Pyro - we will see what we can do about it, thanks for the suggestion. and yes, we will change to a more stressful stress tests in order to really find out about the ability of the motherboards. don't worry, we may not reply, but we listen ;)

Dulanic - are you refering to whether they post at 133MHz? Yes, they do. As I said, the system posted at 133 x 6 and entered Windows flawlessly (the default multiplier is 8, and we are sure 133 x 8 doesn't work at all). We also tried rebooting the sytem, shut down and restart, you name it...

the stability rating is across all boards (this is the only score you can compare with other boards besides the KT133A chipset). we didn't use to mention the total number of crash rate, but in the recent reviews we decided to reveal that number as well so you guys can have a better idea...

To discuss it further, I think the problem is during the first few cycles of booting up the machine, does the system look at the default multiplier or the modified multiplier. We haven't gotten any words from VIA about the issue, so all we could do now is guessing. From what we have tested so...

ummm, not really. When the jumper is in the 100MHz position and the multiplier was changed from 8 to 6, every time a reboot (without a single shut down) the system always booted at 600MHz (without any problem). Now we were forced to shut down the computer once coz' we had to change the jumper...

And BTW, I think this board is not as widely available as those by ASUS, ABIT, or MSI, BUT it is not that bad as well. I was still able to find them in stock in a lot of on-line stores, so if you like the board and want to get one, you should still be able to find it at a reasonable cost.

Guys, concerning the 100/133 jumper issue, I have done some tests together with the help from Iwill. If you put in a chip designed for 100MHz (and not able to run at 133MHz), set the jumper to 133MHz, boot it up, it's gonna be disaster for sure. But if you put the jumper in 100MHz position...

no D-LED chip on my MSI Pro2a

that chip is the Smart D-LED chip, I think it's for generating all those voice. It should be above the PIC slots. (at least it is on my board).

ah, maybe you can try it. o/c a tbird is darn easy, and you would be amazed how easy you make your chip running at 1G :) all you have to do is to make sure your L1 bridge are connected (some of them are already connected, but you gotta check it), put in the chip, go to bios and set the...

Hmm... Seems I did made the right judgement huh? Hope you guys like my review. We are still planning on the raid controllers for different boards, but I have no definite days on that though. i guess 12.5 is the highest multiplier settings, at least from all the boards i have seen so far.

1+ Ghz CPUs only for 760 boards?

I don't know if they will make ddr on lower clock speed chips, but my guess is AMD wants to reserve that for high end systems. and actually the new chips (266 ddr) have quite some platforms to choose from: AMD 760, VIA KT266, and the ALi AMGiK 1. Also, the new KT133A will run 266 chips with SDR.
