Is it just me or has the new PC games selection been very poor lately? Your list there are all old games.
I've played Oblivion, COD4 and COD5 on my 8800GTS 512MB with max settings except AA, which I usually keep at 2x. Runs perfect at 1680x1050. What does that tell you about gtx275 or 285...
I've tried out Teflon mouse feet before and they worked out pretty well, especially on wooden surfaces. Each set lasted me over a year. Purchased them from SVC.com several years ago.
However, since then I've purchased a nice cloth mousepad and have never had to use mouse feet again. The...
Hi guys,
I'm thinking about "upgrading" my current Intel Classic mobo to an Asus P5Q. I would prefer to just switch the two and boot since I'd like to keep all my old files and settings. I am a bit leery this would corrupt my Vista Ultimate installation, however. What are your experiences...
i've been searching for the answer to this question as well. it seems to be hit or miss, but you'll need to call MS and argue your case. anecdotal evidence that this isn't too hard.

Thanks for posting this...let's me know I'm not the only guy who hits his printer and broke it. Out of frustration, I gave my printer a few good punches topside... Well let's just say I sure shut it up :P
i received mine in about two months for an evga 7900gt. i didn't have to pester them or anything, just my luck i guess
however i do agree rebates suck...been avoiding them more and more recently. i mean, $15 AR for a wireless router w/ printer server and wifi finder sounds great, until you...
i just picked this up today, been using an mx1000 for quite awhile before.
first impressions:
pros
1) i enjoy the lower profile of the mx revo b/c it puts less pressure on the middle of my palm
2) i'm definitely a fan of the new scroll wheel...it's sooo much easier to scroll long...
i'm personally not a fan of stock coolers, but to each their own. i'd say, go ahead and rig it up with everything stock, and see how you like it. if it's too loud or the temps are too high, then you will need better cooling. plus you shouldn't be in any hurry about cooling...it will always be...
Ahhh....you forgot to allocate some money for cooling!
I always reserve at least $50 for good cooling...but up to $100 in your case, since you're using very good components. Think about spending $30-$50 for a quality CPU heatsink (something from Thermalright, Zalman, Cooler Master, etc). I...
easier read: Maximum PC
more in-depth/technical: CPU
gaming: Game Informer (I found this at a local Gamestop after they sold me a Game Card @ $14, which comes w/ a 1-year magazine subscription)
Bottom line: All three are good mags, just depends on your tastes.
For $15, I got a Steel Pad Qck+. It's a huge cloth mousepad. It works well with my MX1000. Go out and buy the Xtrac Dotz or some sort of Teflon mouse feet...it really makes a big difference.
I like cloth over hard surfaces because it is more comfortable against your wrist/forearm.
I want to know who else has experienced similarly...
I've had experience with 3 different AC Silencers and my complaint is their longevity. The ones I've used are Arctic Silencer Revision 2 (on ATI 9800 Pro), Arctic Silencer Revision 3 (again on 9800 Pro), and NV Silencer 5 (on nVidia...
i would think wearing a glove would cause you to sweat more.
also, if you're eroding your mouse because you game too much...give your poor mouse a break!
I've built many computers and have noticed the same problem...
The 9 pins on every mobo for case switches/leds always allocate 2 pins to the power LED. Yet the cases always seem to have their power LED connector fit THREE pins!
What is up with this???? :|
i just got an audigy 2 zs and the problem with the latest beta drivers that support openAL is that it doesn't work with call of duty 2...the idea behind those beta drivers was to support quake 4
so for the time being, you can either only play quake 4 or cod2, but not both...this is only if...
your "old antec 480W"? minus the word "old", i'd say your PSU is set for just about anything...NO i wouldn't feel you need to go over 500W.
after all, your current PSU is made by a very reputable company that stands behind their products.
yep...6600gt will do the trick, anything better will most likely be held back by the CPU. 6600gt's should run about $100 these days, so you'll have the space to buy ram
boo...where are all the good hdd deals? maybe they're storing up for black friday?
edit: forgot...thanks for putting together this thread...keep it going :D
Just do a search for cable management here and you should find a lot of results.
Suggestion: fold those IDE ribbion cables instead of scrunching them. Also, those red SATA cables are really distracting! :P
gee...that oled screen that blends into the casing = AWESOME
i would really like to see this in person...but sony stuff tends to cost more than apple stuff (which is already overpriced) = BIG TURN OFF
I've been thinking about glueing my Zalman NB cooler to my mobo so I don't have to use the clip anymore. Besides, the current AS5 is good but the heatsink can still shift around a bit.
Has anybody done this but later regretted it?
What else is this adhesive good for?
On the contrary, people who've known about Woot for awhile know this is a private joke of sorts. Because the speakers were so popular when it was actually advertised as Dell 5650's, Woot decided to "mystify" them. Of course, this did little to quell the hordes of hungry eBayers. :D
I've had the MX1000 for many months now. I charge it generally when it hits red. I've been able to get a full day of use even when it's on red...but I tend to forget to put it on the charger.
No, I never turn off the mouse (unless there is some sort of reception problem). I still get several...
Learn the sad fact: The older generation don't want anything to do with computers if they can help it. Can't blame them though...only within the last 15 years has computers become mainstream. For these guys, it's like the world changed overnight :D
i know a lotta people here are incredibly picky...i for one, am not. seriously....FINGERPRINTS??? just wipe it off already!
my sony lcd does have backlight bleeding on the right side when the screen is completely black...however i really have to question why you're watching a completely black...
