SATA is in theory hot-swappable, just like USB and firewire devices. I wouldn't recommend doing that usually, but unfortunately all SATA systems I've used give you the lovely "Safely Remove Hardware" icon. :|

Disable multi-monitor support, perhaps? I've heard that can cause issues with the 6800 series. Also, your CPU might not be overheating but your GPU could still be running too hot. Check for an updated BIOS for your GPU, maybe.

What mobo for an a64 3200+ 939?

MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum Asus A8N SLI If you want a VIA platform, I guess the Abit AV8 is a good choice. If you're looking for an entire computer, I would probably wait for Nforce4 to come out in quantity and get one of those - SLI on the high end and Ultra on the "low" end.
