Does Google now have my fingerprint?

I use a long passkey and fingerprint unlock. In the event you are pulled over or anticipate a situation where you might be searched, reboot your phone. That makes entering the passkey a requirement. That way you get the convenience of fingerprint unlock, and the security of a long passkey.

9/29 Google Press Event Discussion (Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X)

A year from now Android will get cool new features and Samsung will take forever to update, and will of course update their 2016 flagship models first which would leave me feeling frustrated. A year after that Android will again update and at that point your phone will be way down on Samsung's...

So Android for phones and iOS for tablets

I use Android and have a Nexus 6p on order, but after reading the iPhone 6s review I'm inclined to believe that iOS is just better for this phone cycle. As far as tablets, I think it's either a Surface Pro or iPad. Android tablets are fine as a budget friendly option, but the iPad is just...

So Did Lenovo Finally Ruin Motorola?

In answer to the OP, yes. I do believe that Motorola has gone down in terms of both customer service and timely updates since the Lenovo acquisition. I had a bad CS experience with them last year. Needless to say, I no longer recommend Motorola to my circle of contacts.

PSA: Why you should avoid Motorola Phones.

Well, I appreciate the rational demeanor of your post. I'm quite sure it's not a deal breaker to everyone, and as I said, my main goal is share my experience. Going on, I have often read that many Android manufacturers struggle with profitability. For a long time Samsung was the only one...

PSA: Why you should avoid Motorola Phones.

It's not about the money for me. My goal is simply to share my experiences and perhaps if enough people do likewise, companies will get the message that support after the point of sale matters. If it was an iPhone, I could walk right into the Apple Store and get a repair, and I know Samsung has...

PSA: Why you should avoid Motorola Phones.

Cliff Notes: -I buy a Moto X in late 2013 directly from Motorola.com via their ‘Moto Maker’ app. My decision is influenced by positive reviews, and also by the fact that Google owns the company, which I associate with fast software updates and good customer service. -Google sells Motorola...

    Big phones are uncomfortable.

I favor smaller phones because I'm into fitness and cycling, but I still think the 4" iPhone 5s is just too small. It's harder to see web content. The keyboard is tiny. I have to squint when watching video on the stairmaster. It's just not for me. In general I think Apple is moving in the...

Sprint will begin throttling its unlimited plans in June

I think this is a necessary move. When I was on Sprint their 4g speed was slower than I would expect for a 3G connection because of network congestion. There are always a relatively small number of users that are constantly streaming video or tethering their entire home network to their 4G...

New phone: Galaxy S5 or Nexus 5

If price is not a consideration, I would take the S5. It has nearly double the battery life of the Nexus 5 and it also has SD card support, is waterproof, has a better screen and some other miscellaneous features such as an IR transmitter and a heartrate monitor. The main advantage of the...

    New Motorola Moto E

Right now the Lumia 520 is the (unlocked) smartphone to get for around $99, but now it looks like Android will have a really viable option in that price range as well; and with the more established Android ecosystem, I expect it to do quite well.

    hybrid bicycles

I'm an avid cyclist, so I will try to answer this for you. I actually recommend the cheaper option. The benefits of a carbon fork are lighter weight, and that it absorbs road vibration better in some cases. However, it is also more prone to breakage and failure than a steel fork (especially...

Question for single guys that are into fitness

*Need*....I have no idea, but some spend quite a bit of time. If the salon part doesn't apply (might be because of where I live, Miami), I guess you could substitute that word with some other activity that is mostly sedentary. Harper's Bazaar had an article recently that women might want to...

    Mobile gaming. (iOS/Android)

point and shoot or cell phone?

At this point I would not recommend a point and shoot. I would recommend that you buy a mirrorless 'bridge camera' (DSLR sensor in a smaller body) if you want to do serious photography (vacations, family portraits, and planned outings) or just use a smartphone as an 'always carry with you'...

    Anyone excited for OnePlus?

The problem is that it's likely not going to be available widely anytime soon. By the time it is available, we'll probably have the Nexus 6 which will arguably be superior spec-wise, and which will be widely available on the Play Store. I do appreciate the fact that they are taking aim at...

    What's your expectation about Iphone6?

I'm expecting a 4.7" screen, A8 processor, camera improvements (maybe built in OIS?), a sapphire glass display, better battery life, and of course iOS 8. I also hope (but don't expect) 32gb to replace 16gb as the base iPhone model.

    HTC One 2014 (M8)

IMO, they sort of 'botched' the rear camera. Sure, the selective focus thing is kind of nice to have, but even nicer is having the ability to crop images. This is especially important when using a fixed lens with no zoom function. On the other hand, I love the front facing 5mp shooter. With...
