I had a similar situaiton to you and I just used a Windows XP repair installation and everything came out perfectly. I was amazed it worked. I've read that others have gotten this to work too, but I recommend that you clean up your windows install a bit first. I definitely cleaned up a lot...
Antec is AWESOME. Don't worry about the receipt at all. They should be able to find your order. I had them find my order for a True430 RMA I had to do a while ago. I've always been extremely pleased with their service.
I think you should be ok just letting windows repair itself. I had to move from a MSI KT3 Ultra2 to my current NF7-S and it worked without a hitch. You might have to download some updates again, but everything should be working.
Hi,
I was just wondering if there's any way to not have the power meter show up in the system tray for windows xp. I just installed SpeedSwitchXP, which already shows the power left so I don't need the power meter anymore. However, no matter what I do, the power meter seems to always be in...
i always thought that chkdsk /r would repair the boot records whereas normal chkdsk doesn't. Recovery console is the one you access through windows xp setup cd.
Did you try running "chkdsk /r" in recovery console on the drive yet? I had a similar thing happen to my main drive and chkdsk /r cleared it up for me. Took several hours for it to finish though.
Yeah, I'm running fine with the old drive right now. I tried the top 4 jumper settings and all kept giving me the same error. Also, I hear lots of clicking and scratching on some bootups coming from the drive, which further leads me to believe that it's defective. Other times, the drive...
I wish I could run it, the computer won't go past the BIOS screen with this disk plugged in. It always ends up with a "primary slave drive fail" message or a primary master drive fail message.
Well, I can't get that far because the BIOS doesn't properly recognize the drive. I've tried all the jumper configurations, but it still won't show up correctly. So I haven't been able to format and partition. The cables were all plugged in correctly. Thanks.
Hi,
I was wondering how one goes about determining whether a hard drive is defective. I just purchased a new Hitachi 7K250 250GB hard drive for my Abit NF7-S v2.0. However, the bios can't seem to detect the hard drive's specifics. When I connect it as a slave, the BIOS lists the name as a...
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows how to tell the 6800 NUs apart. Specifically, which ones have the working PureVideo hardware and which ones don't. I haven't been able to find anything about how to spot the distinction before buying. Also, does anyone know if the GT or Ultras will have...
Hi,
I just transferred my partition over from one hard disk to another in an upgrade, but now system restore for windows xp doesn't work anymore. I get a "Run as DLL" error everytime I click on the 'system restore' tab. Does anyone know how to fix this? I already tried disabling and then...
Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the forum to post this topic in, but I have a question to ask about the drive configuration in a system. Currently, I have a nf7-s that is setup like this
Primary Channel Master: Hard Drive
Primary Channel Slave: Hard Drive
Secondary Channel Master: DVD...
Hi,
I just tried uninstalling O&O Defrag from my windows xp system, but the installer errored out halfway through. I've deleted all the files, but somehow the oodag.exe service still shows up in services.msc. Does anyone know how to delete this? Thanks so much!
Hi,
My computer has started acting up and now I can only access certain pages. All of the pages on my university's own network are accessible, but a lot of outside ones aren't. Fortunately, I can still access this forum for some reason. Basically Firefox keeps saying that "document...
