Motherboard

I just recently swapped out mobos and used the existing os on my hard drive. Once I installed the new mobo - i booted from my xp home cd and used the repair feature. It's been a month now and I've had no problems. FYI - I switched from a nf3 chipset to a k8T800 chipset.

BFG 6800GT Freezing Problem

Update: I fixed my 10s freezing problem. I bought an Abit KV8 pro mobo. I spent hours trying to fix this problem and the whole time it came down to my nf3 chipset and my 6800gt not being compatible. Way to go Nvidia;)

It could be the bios but why waste a warranty on a $400 card that can pretty much handle any game you throw at it.

I have the same card. Mine will only got to 385/1014 before it fails testing. O'h well, it's just luck of the draw.

Do you guys o/c your 6800GT ?

I have a 6800gt and mine will only overclock to 380/1015. If I try to move the core or memory past that it "fails the test."

Low 3Dmark scores...argh!

What bios are you running? I too have the vnf-250 and when I flashed to the 3/21/05 my bench scores went to the toilet. In AQ3, I was getting 40k w/ a gfx score of 5400. I flashed to the 7/29 version and I went right back up to 60k w/ a gfx scored of 8500.

Problems with Nvidia nForce3 250 and 6800 GT combo

Thanks for help but I already do. W/ FW enabled all games/benchs freeze every 2 seconds or so making games unplayable. With FW disabled, I get freezes once or twice an hour. I've basically tried every fix under the sun to fix the freezes (PCI latency to 64, 0 prerendered frames etc.) and I can't...

Problems with Nvidia nForce3 250 and 6800 GT combo

I have the 6800gt/nf3 problem, but I don't have any artifacts. During games (except Doom3) the game will freeze for 10s w/ the sound looping and then just resume as if nothing happened. Your problem sounds like a bad card, and I agree with the other posts. I'd RMA it.

AMD64 Temperature Poll

You guys got some low temps. My A64 3000 newcastle oc to 2.35 idles at 38-39 and at full load is 48-49. And that's with a xp-90 w/ AS5. edit: I know this a non-oc poll but I figured I'd share anyways.

Is the XP 90 overkill?

Hell, I've got an xp-90 (754 A643000 Newcastle@ 2.35) and my loads on Prime95 are 50c.

In the first one, it looks like the pipes are facing the AGP slot and in the second one it looks like the pipes are facing the ram. I dunno maybe it doesn't matter. I'm idling at 37c so it must be working alright.

When I place the hsf on my cpu which way are the pipes suppose to face? I currently have then facing the back of the case and the fins are over the ram. Does it matter?

gaming cpu

Well I picked up an a64 3000/Chaintech vnf3 for $250. Aside from a few quarks, which I caused, I couldn't be happier. I'm running the 3000 @ 2.4, on the stock HSF w/ the temp at 44c.

A64 3000 running at 1.8ghz?

Fixed. I didn't know that Hammer Fid Control in the bios is the multiplier. Anyways it was set to "startup" so I changed it to 10x2000 and now the proc. is at 2.0ghz.

It's the newcastle. Before I began changing the bios. The multi was 10 and it ran stock at 2 ghz.

A64 3000 running at 1.8ghz?

I've got a chaintech vnf3/a64 3000 w/ the 5/7 bios. The problem is that the chip is only running at 1.8ghz. In cpu-z 123, the multiplier shows up as 9. What's up with that? To my knowledge I did not change the multiplier. Anyone have any suggestions?

Yeah, I don't know what the problem is. With the original bios (I think it was 5/7) I could change the FSB and overclock with no problems. Now, if I raise the FSB above 200 it won't boot. I looked around the internet w/ google for the 5/7 bios but I can't find it. I can only find the 3/28...

When I was OCing on the original bios I didnt' tweak the memory or core voltages. All I did was raise the FSB.
