ok, i've already tried deleting both monitors, didn't work. i currently have 2 monitors listed but i'm not in SLI mode because everytime i boot to windows it asks me whether i want to turn sli mode on. when i check the box, it gives me that error and the box automatically unchecks itself. the...
2 x evga 6800 gt's (pci-e of course)
A8N SLI
here is the error message i'm getting:
your displays which are attached to your secondary video card, will appear blank when SLI is enabled.
This is because your secondary graphics card will accelerate your primary card.
Connect your display to...
earch feature? what is that? sorry before this morning when my local retailer started stockign evga i'd never paid any attention to them other than to notice they are one of the more expensive brands.
given the choice between the 2 companies which do you choose for a 6800 gt pic-e. specs wise the cards are the exact same, the XFX comes with soem stupid games that i don't want so dont' think about htat in yoru decision. furthermore both are using the same cooler. so this is purely about does...
crucial ballistix is 140, it's a little more than you would like but they are killer sticks. get them off crucial.com if you are worried about retailer quality.
won't board will the 775 be on? the intel overclock lock on most 775 boards will make you oveclock minimum to suck! if it's not on the asus or abit's that get you up to 20-25% boost then amd for sure. if you got the asus or abit then... if you are a big gamer go AMD64, otherwise probably intel.
from what i see here Intel and AMD chips compare price wise with AMD hauling in a 200+ PR rating bonus so AMD would be the chip of choice in my opinion.
i agree, further more the ddr booster pulls from the 5V rail rather than the 3.3V so you can go above 3.3V plus the circuitry on the booster dampens voltage fluctuations apparently to help protect your memory. no mod can do that.
if it really is a 90 nano chip i would be very interested in some overclocking results. i'm not sure why AMD would make a 90 nano clawhammer though, i thought AMD intended on killing off clawhammer production for the cheaper to produce newcastles?
my ability with a soddering iron is somewhat nothing... therefore i'm not really willing to just destroy 2 or 3 mobos in the process learning how to do it right.
yeah i've been really interested in seeing whether ballistix could make ddr500 at 2-2-2-5 at any voltage as we've been discussing it on another forum i post on. too bad the ballistix review is already done thoguh so i'll probably have to find out first hand come christmas or so when my cash...
because of the gaming i would suggest the AMD64 setup because AMD is heads and tails above intel in gaming. the overclock on the 64 3000+ won't be awesome but it would be noticeable most likely (never any promises though).
hey i'm new to the forums as you can see from my post count but i've been reading anandtech since i was in 9th or 10th grade (starting second year university in several days now). i simply love the detail and quality (not to mention the legitimacy) of the reviews. i know the memory reviews are...
