I followed that Athlon64 instuctions when I re-applied the grease. The only difference was that it is impossible to twist the heatsink at all on the motherboard. I think it would be near impossible to remove the CPU and twist it onto the heatsink then re-sit it in the motherboard again without...
Thanks.
I've contacted Antec and they have advised me to RMA the PSU back to them to get a replacement so there must be something there.
Back to the tempertures...I' notice today that as soon as the machine cold boots (In a room of 19C) the CPU temp shows 45C within 4 seconds after being...
Hmm...Still crashing but now I'm reading about older Antec 430s (Which I have) being problematic with this motherboard...Reboots and such like. Guess it might not of been the heat issue that was the original cause afterall, as I've been reading of people running much higher tempretures on the...
I've cleaned the heatsink and CPU and reapplied the paste as per the 'Arctic Silver' guidelines (Themaltake say's to see their own website for installation instructions but I sure can't find them!). Temps now sitting 53C idle and still touching 60C in 3D games. A big improvement but is it still...
It sounds stuped, I know but hell, thats what I did. BUT, if you read the instructions that come boxed with the CPU it has the part that says 'READ THIS FIRST' and point 6 says 'Thermal interface material is required for all AMD processors...blah blah' does NOT say 'This heatsink ALREADY has or...
I did not remove the putty before adding the grease. Never read anywhere that you had too! Should I remove the putty from the heatsink and re-apply the grease? (or remove the grease and just leave the putty) If so, what is the best method of removing the grease prior to re-applying?
The fan...
Hi,
I recently purchased an Athlon Winchester 3500+ (Not OCed) and an Abit AV8-Third Eye motherboard (latest BIOS) and I'm having real problems with the CPU temperture. Reading up on other forums I should be running with the temp in the 50s max, if not less for a Winchester. The system has...
Running memtest would bypass the AGP bus anyway plus the glitching error appears on the 3DMark CPU tests when overclocked. The problem may be that my motherboard is not too friendly running duel channel with my RAM.
I just ran memtest with the RAM running of a 214mhz FSB and there were a number of error cropping up so it seems its very stricly timed at the default settings. I'll slack the timings, increase the voltage and re-test but it looks like its poor RAM I have.
If this is the case I'll buy new RAM...
I ran a memtest when I was having the same type of error when the RAM was in different slots on the motherboard. The memory checked out fine yet the graphical glitches were present. What I don't understand is that if the ram is producing errors they would windows (I run xp btw) not crash...

Hi,
I've been dabbling in slight overclocking of my system (2.8 to 3.0Ghz) but I've been running into problems with my RAM. When I overclock the FSB more than 3 or 4Mhz I begin to notice...
I've downloaded the driver again and reinstalled but no luck.
However just to give an example of the problem I've grabbed a screen from Aquamark3 that contains a corrupt texture. In the capture the texture below the outlet exhausts is incorrect. However it looks very similar to the texture on...
I'm using Cats 4.8 at the moment. I update them every release but the problem does not seem to have got any better or worse. I'll try re-instaling again as there is no harm in trying ;)
The glitches were not initially there in Everquest and Aquamark3, they just appeared one day after updating Dx9. As for the other the other program it was installed afterwards so I'll have a search for any patches that may fix this. Just hoping its not error in the cards ram as I was thinking of...
I've have a Sapphire Radeon 9800 non-pro running a WinXP system for over a year now and maybe the past 7 months I've noticed graphical glitches in some programs. The one's in question are Everquest, American McGee's Alice and Aquamark3. (There may be others but these are the only 3 I have...
