Probably still not better than PhII, though, which in many benchies had at least a 10% clock-for-clock advantage. I wonder if these affect the hyperthreaded Intel chips, too, like when the patch was inadvertently (and temporarily) released last month.

I think X3's are discontinued. There is a value in simplicity for OEM's. From assembly to support, it would make more financial sense for HP, as an example, to spend a couple dollars more for Llano/Trinity than Athlon + video card.

From what I've been able to quickly find, a 6670 on 40nm process has a TDP of 66W. It seems to me that on a smaller (32nm) process, it is possible to get close to 6670-level performance with Trinity.

But at the end of the day, IB will be just fine, the GPU won't be great relative to AMD but most folks will overlook that based on the CPU-style performance, and we'll all have a light-hearted chuckle over "Mooly's Mistake".

Can't tell if you're trolling, but assuming you are being legit... several motherboard manufacturers announced last year that they would update the BIOSes of select motherboards to support Bulldozer. I tested an FX-8120 (95w) in an Asus Crosshair IV 890FX, worked fine. I did not try any...

Quanta vs AMD, case: GPUs couldnt take the heat?

The unfortunate aspect of this, from our enthusiast perspective, is that cash-strapped AMD will have to shell out $$ in legal fees and a settlement amount, I doubt they'll go to trial.

Actually, it's hard to gauge "highly effective" because the sample size is so small and the time frame in which the dueling badges are parallel in the market is fleeting. I don't recall any Intel rebadging...?

But initially, the 9800GT used *everything* that was the 8800GT, even the same PCB. There were 9800GT retail boxes that had stickers covering "8800GT". The only difference was a BIOS flash. Kinda like taking an unsold 2011 Accord, Armor-alling the interior, and slapping 2012 on the window...

AMD getting sued (allegedly) for faulty notebook chips. Source is eweek.com.

IIRC, the Nvidia 8x00 GPU issue was a result of poor soldering, so the cycle of power-on/power-off eventually damaged the chip I have a Dell Vostro 1500 with a 8600m GT from this time frame, and so far it's been fine, 4 yrs old.
