I just purchased an EVGA 760 4 GB. for $279
I multibox 5 characters in WoW , Rift and 4 in SWTOR.
This is absolutely the best bang for the buck on a multibox set up.
Hi all,
I'm going to build a new system within the next 45 days.
If you had $4000 to build with what would you choose?
I'm primarily a gamer.
Give me your choices!

I know I know a canned bench however they are getting better at analizing the systems stats as well.
Ok system is up and running.
Cpu freq at 450
memory is at 1080 divider at 2.4
Upped the memory voltage to +.2
The CPU core is running at 1.35v
Stable at 4050.
I got my hardware in.
The CPU is batch Q808A424 made 03/28/08.
BX80570E8400 SLAPL
Anyone know if this is a good batch? I saw earlier where someone mentioned the Q700 series as having good and not so good overclockers.
I'll be installing the hardware tomorrow.
It's going in a Rev 2...
Well I got my hardware in.
The CPU is batch Q808A424 made 03/28/08.

Anyone know if this is a good batch? I saw earlier where someone mentioned the Q700 series as having good and not so good overclockers.
Thanks for that listing of settings. I have the DS3L coming in tomorrow to replace my p965-DS3 3.3
I'm also getting an e8400 cpu and new memory ( G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) to the mix.
I'm planning on running it at 4GHz, I will be running it on my current...
Pull the tab and install the 8 pin, the tab is there for those who only have a 4 pin power connector and the board maker wanted to make sure you installed that 4 pin in the right sockets.
The 8 pin should give you a little added stability, but not much :P
With the prices of Kentsfields dropping later to very low costs, just imagine having a dual q6600 setup.
The PC version of the PS3 :)
Seriously, I would imagine that by the end of the year people may have systems
like this :
Dual Quad
8950 GX2 Sli
^^^
I want one ;)
DS3 easiest OC I ever had
running at 3.2 at default voltage.
Planned on running mine at 3.6 however the cooler for my Northbridge didn't come in.
I will up it once it gets here and I can throw some heavy duty voltage at it. :)
I got my DS3 from NewEgg Monday it's a 3.3 came with f9 BIOS immediately flashed to F10
I'm running a E6600
What I've done in my BIOS:
These 6 are disabled
- CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E)
- CPU Thermal Monitor 2(TM2)
- CPU EIST Function
-No-execute memory protect
-Limit CPUID Max to 3...
What are you using for cooling your CPU? What temps have you seen while oc'ing?
Random and consistent reboots are one of the signs of a overheating cpu..
Well I ordered the water block this evening.
Danger Den Copper TDX Block for Intel 775 Processors
I have to wait for my check to hit Thursday before ordering the other parts.
So it looks like at least Monday before I get to try my overclocking nirvana :)
So the parts I'm buying
E6600...
If I could figure out a better legal way I would surely do it :P
I work 12 hour shifts, I was scheduled 4 days this week so I worked the 1st 3 days I was supposed to be off. In other words I worked 7 days 12 hours each or 84 hours this week.
What I'm actually paid for is a total of 117...
Update for me.
I've been reading a lot of online reviews the last 24 hours. My goal was to get 3.0Ghz out of the cpu.
PCTC2 made some very good points previously in the post
AnandTech has a very good GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 Overclocking article.
So if I use a e6400 cpu, with a...
After reading, I may spend an extra $100.
Thinking about this for the system memory
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
NewEggs personal reviews are great on this memory, anyone have any issues with it?
I would like to get...
Thanks all for the feedback.

Since you have the motherboard I'm planning on getting. would you have a few moments to give some advice on what settings and adjustments to make?
BTW the CPU will be water cooled. I never plan on going back to air.
TIA
SB
I'm getting ready to purchase new hardware, I just worked three days of overtime to be able to afford the upgrade.
I have roughly $700 to spend on a CPU , mobo and ram.
I've chosen the GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 as the motherboard. $132 at NewEgg this leaves me with about 570 for the other...
I own a pair of 6800GTs.
What is important to me isn't the highest video frame rate available. What I bought mine for was that the lowest frame rate is generally higher with SLI than a single card solution at the same resolution.
Being in a large fire fight in an FPS and having your...
The next UT engine is multi threaded for SMP.
However I just don't "game". CS:S a lot though :)
The developers will be coming out with games that will take advantage, trust me ;)
People will grab up these games if anything to test thier new dual cpu's LOL
I've been doing a lot divx...
Add Samsung to your list.
I have two 120gb drives that are both quick and quiet....
They also happen to be inexpensive..
120 GB 8mb cache SATA 3 year warrenty $90 now $84 instant rebate......... $99 for the 160 GB
I've really liked mine.
Read the user reviews at NewEgg
I've been using my SLI set up for about a week.
Games play superbly.
CS:Source owns.
Both cards on water clock to 425, so I've got Ultra speeds which is really nice :)
Default 3DMark05 9035 quality settings in nvidia applet
3DMark03 19690
I can say yes they do.
I've tried all my games here at home that have been released in the last year.
Even Halo supports it and it's considerably older now..
Here is a list of games currently supported by Nvidia
Age of Mythology
AquaNox 2: Revelation
Armed & Dangerous
Battlefield...
MisterChief,
He could have included 800x600, 1024x768 and 2054x1536 lighten up :P
I have heard you'll be seeing ATI numbers VERY soon, ATI has second silicon working on thier next gen part. If I've been told correctly thier single card will be faster than an Ultra SLI setup at high...
You're welcome,
I enjoyed your numbers.
I've read around the web that there isn't a performance difference between parts of the same clock speeds using an AGP or PCI-E bus.
I believe there is a tangible difference the two.
At the same clock speed the PCI-E card is 2% to 5% faster in...
Well I have a couple things in my favor.
The A8N-SLI motherboard has a 4 pin molex connector to carry additional power to the PCI-E slots.
I'm water cooling both cards on a dual radiator, the current card hasn't went over 40C since I have been OC'ing it.
I have a 680W power supply that...
