It looks like the Enermax Aquafusion 120 fits just fine, mostly because the pipes are flexible in terms of being able to rotate left/right on the cpu cooler. I'm leaving it out of the rack for a week to keep an eye on temps. So far my idle temps are around 32 C, about 40 C under normal loads.

Gotcha, totally makes sense. I didn't realize it wouldn't kick in until congestion hit. Seems like QoS always made a difference for VOIP in my home network, but maybe that was just smoke/mirrors? I figured congestion would just always be there, not something that is maxed out but just in general...

I'm just not sure that in a home type of environment, with a basic modem, how anything above an old WRT54G wouldn't provide the necessary firewall protection. Nothing would handle a home connection against a DDos attack, so that's not the level of concern I have nor something I would try to...

What I was talking about, could be wrong, but basically, you're providing the ISP with the packets you care about, sooner than all the other packets, due to QoS. It's providing the priority. Even though the ISP will handle based on their own network settings, you'll still send out the packets...

So I ordered a UniFi Dream Machine Pro to go along with 3 POE WiFI APs and 1 POE Outdoor WiFi AP. Hope this doesn't turn out to be super cheap / low grade hardware... Seems like there's even an option to power cycle the modem when it detects loss of connection. I totally could see that being used.

Thanks. I don't foresee any use cases for needing that level of security downstream from a home ISP. Thoughts? I do have some ports forwarded for various applications, such as AXIS Camera Station or Plex Server.

Thanks everyone. I did briefly look into running the Google WiFi behind my firewall/router and it didn't seem like that was actually supported. I also really want to ditch a system that requires me to be ONLINE to test network/internet related things. Just baffles me there's no admin interface...

Are you saying even the 3x3 APs, or Zyxel's 5gb bandwidth AP, devices wouldn't go beyond 433 over the 5g AC? Any comments on any of the Zyxel APs, outside of not being able to deliver exactly what I was hoping of? :(

Ah ok.. So we still utilize the nighhawk (for DHCP and hard wired connections where router is at), and then disable WiFi. Then place a bunch of these AP units around the house? Then we need a computer to act as the controller, which I assume would disable the WiFi once the computer restarts?

- That's why those "just clone your SSID" devices simply don't work. The ones that actually boost/repeat the same signal, make a real difference. I figured there would be something readily available for the home market, especially with these newer/higher end routers.
