Connecting Multiple PCs to Game Server

^^ Hey Dave, how's the ram? Anyway, the easy solution to make this work for all games is to buy a router that supports multiple-IP WAN links and get yourself a 2nd IP :^) Also, some games (Source) will only allow you to connect to the same server if DMZ is off (wierd, I know, but it works).

USB static shock causes monitor to turn off

It's probably not the monitor "shutting off" but the interruption of the USB device is casuing all devices on the PCI bus to stop responding (i.e. Video Cards, on onboard Video). I would be concerned with one of the following: - The USB controller that is attached to the front of the case...

Entirely disagree. Usually memtest is finding errors that wouldn't happen in Windows for minutes, if not hours. I would *swap* the ram, if that's a possibility.

Taskbar suddenly doubled in size

Acronis Image and new HDD

I'm with him, I've used the clone tool on non-identical drives, even running on different adapters. Also, if you restore an image to a disk with data, it will be erased but not cause any _problems_.

Stand by keeps waking up

Just for giggles, try going to msconfig (start > run > msconfig) and doing a safe start (no services, no start-up items). Could be some wierd app running that has a wake-up timer set. I've seen wierder things :P

Hmmm..

Your case probably has a few built in raise-points instead of standoffs. That's not too uncommon. If you wern't using stand-offs you would notice alot of smoke, a strange smell and a severe lack of performance in windows (read: none at all.)

DNS server questions

Some routers run DNS Caching servers, others will relay dns requests on your behalf. Others will just give you the direct IPs of the DNS servers and let you get DNS questions yourself. I prefer the 3rd type myself, never had good luck with residential quality routers that have dns caching...

I'd recommend the OP use SCP/SFTP. It's as simple as enabling OpenSSH and there are clients for all OSes. Best of all, it's SSL secured. :D

I use GoDaddy for buying my domains, and they'll host the DNS for free as well. You might find out where your various hostnames were purchased and see if they'll do your DNS for free. :)

It depends on how much the data is important to you, both setups lack redundancy that I see, unless you're replicating the data. I'd probably take the two PCs, but use one as a primary server with all functionality, and replicate the data or even the whole system to the 2nd pc. GL, Kyle
