Looking for a HD-DVD/Blue Ray combo drive

Is there a fix for flat panel scaling?

I have exactly the same problem. The only solution for me (at this moment) was to remove the driver and install the one that came with the card (96.89). There are also other minor bugs like this, the driver needs some testing and validation....

Your memory should be able to reach FSB450 at those settings. But as you have the E6600 already at 3.6, I don't think you need to raise the bar even more.

Is the 8800gts-gtx that much better?

I got one also and the difference is amazing. Not only speed, IQ. Crusader, Lopri and Nitro are right on the spot. Oblivion now runs like melted butter at 70 FPS forcing 16AA 16AF at 1920x1200. Add to that: 1) No shimmering 2) Silent cooler I also have never had a card like that...

Is my Gigabyte DS3 faulty?

There is an option in the BIOS that prevents it from being modified. Did you check if it is "off" (ie, allowing you to update the BIOS)? Try also loading Optimized BIOS values and selecting SATA NATIVE as Sanitydc suggested.

E6300 users I need some superpi 1M times

I sold it, but I had an E6300 running at 3.15GHz on the DS4 (7x450 4-4-4). Superpi1M was around 18 seconds (perhaps 17.5). If I recall correctly, an E6600 running on similar speed was 2 seconds faster. Edit: Bios used F3, F4 and F5

Gigabyte DS4

It's a good board and the best price/features when compared to the DQ6 and DS3. It has the passive cooling like the DQ6 but priced just a tad higher than the DS3. Mine overclocks to FSB 450 4-4-4, could run an E6300 at 3.15 GHz 24/7. Now it is paired with a E6400 doing 3.2GHz.

Your PSU seems weak for a GX2 based system. If you want help you should at least post details about your system. You should be careful also about connecting 2x cables into one, if you don't know what you are doing you could fry everything.

DS3 DOA?

My first run with the DQ6 was not stable. I tried everything and what "fixed" the issue was replacing the OCZ Plat with new ones. The store insisted it was a compatibility problem and I should not try the Plat again, but I did anyway and it worked.

Question on Gigabyte motherboards

There is a BIOS update utility inside the BIOS, you don't need to boot from DOS. Just have the new BIOS on a floppy, go into BIOS (default settings, no overclocking please) and hit F6 (I guess). Then select update main bios from floppy. Do not update main and backup bios at the same time...
