    Silent System

Look @ the Ahanix Silent X psu, VERY VERY VERY VERY quiet, they claim its ~14dba, however I think its more liek 18dba (like anyone can tell the difference =P). Waterpump: no doubt go with an Ehiem 1048 or 1250. They are quiet, have less chances of vibrating, and will not leak/overheat etc like...

What's a good company to buy blue led fans from?

The Galaxy Fans are brighter. They are of very good quality also. They are actually YS Tech OEM fans, I wouldn't expect anything but the best from them. But in my experiance generally, the Coolermaster ones have been problem free, though if one of 2 were bad i wouldn't be surprised. BTW Galaxy...

Problem with Vantec Nexus 301 transistors?

Nope never heard a single thing. We've gone through a couple hundred of these and no issue's with them at all. I'm sure if there was a situation we would have known from Vantec. But If I hear anything I'll let you guys know. -JokerF15

    Volcano 7+ or Vantec Aeroflow

"]http://www.overclockers.com/articles373/[/q[/url] Generally yes, BUT the Volcano 7+ is not the AVERAGE Thermaltake product look @ the link that you put up, and look where the Volcano 7+ ranks. It is the same as the Aeroflow, it beats out the Swiftech 462, it beats the Alpha PAL 8045, it beats...

Thermalright SLK-800 vs SLK-900: big difference?

The motherboard compatibility is less. Look for the 947U although it may be slightly more expensive it has more motherboard compatibility than the 800U AND the 900U. It is basically the 900U redesigned to allow more clearange of items that may be around the socket area. -JokerF15

Thermalright SLK-800 vs SLK-900: big difference?

With the Same Fan, the 900 Series would be about .25 - .5 C better (if at all). The Key is with the 900 series you can use a 92mm fan, basically you can push the same CFM but be quieter or have the same noise level as an 80mm fan and push more CFM. -JokerF15

    Volcano 7+ or Vantec Aeroflow

Well generally that rule works well, but the V7+ is a different product, it was not designed or even produced by Thermaltake. It was relabelled. It does not follow the same pattern as the rest of their 'Volcano Line'. It is a different heatsink design, and a better method (at the time). It uses...

    liquid cooling question

Well People do use Anti-Freeze in their Watercooling setups to prevent corrosion (although there are better solutions). If you want something just for looks, Green UV Dye is the best way to go. You can also use a highlight and dip it and squeeze out all the 'juice' into the water, it is also UV...

    Is my 330w good enough?

Post the 'Amps' of the power supply here (for each 3.3v, 5.0v and 12v) and people can compare with other psu's they may have. Many of these 'cheap' power supplies are actually very similar to 'expensive' power supplies, but it is hard to tell. There are certain brands, models etc that are...

    Volcano 7+ or Vantec Aeroflow

Actually, the problem is with metal screws. ;). I've experianced a couple myself that have been 'doa' or have had extreme vibration. There have also been 3 different batches of the same model fan in the past 6months (as far as I can recall). Again, I do love this heatsink myself and recommend...

What Happened to the Thermalright SK-7????????

It may seem easy, however to properly get a product out with the quantities that these companies produce, its a huge investment for a company to introduce a product line. Volcano 7+ or Vantec Aeroflow

Well, The Aeroflow is better, however you do have to look at the Aeroflow in a different light. It has more RMAs than any other heatsink that I've worked with. The Reason being no matter how you look at it, the TMD fan has not been perfected. You need to use 'plastic' screws other wise the...

Ceramique by Arctic Silver: better than AS3?

Yup, Arctic Silver Ceramique is better than AS3. However depends on how long you can wait, I would wait for AS5, yup that's right Arctic Silver 5, I know we'll have it ont he 22nd of October. Seems to work better than AS3 & Ceramique. AS-Ceramique, also has an easier method of install. It...

Newbie to watercooling, want to get Koolance case, what else do I need?

Well if you want a Koolance, get one, but if you want something that performs good and that you will most likely keep over time, get something else: 1) Research, and get parts built by yourself 2) DangerDen 3) Swiftech 4) D-Tek Customs Any one of those companies will offer GOOD solutions, some...

ThermalTake Silent Boost or Thermalright SK-7 + Panaflo L1A

Actually the TT fan is a M1a I beleive. The Thermaltake Silent Boost is a fairly good heatsink, but if you are really looking for GOOD solid QUIET cooling go for a Panaflo L1a or Zalman 80mm + Thermalrigh AX-7. The AX-7 benefits from aluminum fins to allow fast transfer of heat into the air...

Replacement for the Zalman ALCU fan

Why not just get the 92mm Zalman? Personally I think the Zalman Fans are one of the Best out there. There really isn't anything special about any fan on the market except the 'Papst' Fans. Which aren't really worth the price difference. Get a 92mm Zalman, and you should be fairly happy. -JokerF15

    -- Swiftech MCX4000 VS SLK-900U -- ??

Retail price should be around low 50's initially on the SP-94. As for: 900U vs Swiftech MCX4000: What type of fan are you going to be using. In low cfm situations the MCX4000 will perform slightly better than the 900U. In high CFM situations, the 900U will outperform the Swiftech model. In...

    Painting parts Black

The best type of 'paint' to paint drives is 'vinyl dye'. It sticks the best, doesnt' get scratched easy, and gives an 'oem' look. Give it a try on another unit laying around and compare. The only downfall is that there are a limited variety of colors available. -JokerF15

Dual cold cathode kit - $5.99. What's the catch? *edit bought Sunbeam kits from SVC*

Fisher is correct. You can use one cathode only if you wish, though the inverter supports 2 and this deal includes the 2nd bulb. The description has been updated just for MichaelD: 1 x Acrylic tube around each bulb (for protection of the cold cathode tube) ;)

Dual cold cathode kit - $5.99. What's the catch? *edit bought Sunbeam kits from SVC*

The deal should last through the end of the month. It may run longer just depends on how long we can keep getting this deal. As far as the quality of the units, it comparable to the best CCFLs on the market. -JokerF15

How much UV water dye is enough?

Depending on what the concentration level of the Dye is 3 drops can be enough. I know most of the dye I work with is Ultra concentrate and using about 5 drops in a watercooling system is 'full' brightness. Than again if its watered down, 50 drops may need to be had =\. Try filling up a 2...

    Good Epox 8rda+ Northbridge Cooler?

Actually unless you are doing extreme overclocking, Go with the Zalman NB32J North Bridge cooler. It performs better than all stock heatsink/fans, and emits no noise (as there is no fan). Even under light ocing (of the FSB), The Zalman performs as good or better than the stock setup. Go with...

Best HS and Fan combo right now under $40? As in terms of best performance/noise.

Hello Guys, Take a serious look @ the Coolermaster Aero 7+. Can be found for ~35-37 dollars + ship from most online stores. In my own bench testing, It was very similar to the Thermalright SLK-900 + a 52cfm fan. However this was when the Aero7+ (under full setting) is pushing out ~27cfm. It is...
