I'm trying to get the heatsink to attach to the second side, I have the side with the CAM lever already hooked. Apparently some force is required, but I am pushing a bit hard and am afraid I'll break my motherboard. Hlep!
I forgot, are you supposed to give the HDD it's own feed? How about a GeForce 6800 OC? I know there were somethings that need their own feeds and can't be shared (Y split molex connectors). Can I put the optical drive and HDD on the same feed?
HDD = 160 GB SATA
*whew* That's what I was hoping. I just saw this
http://www.directron.com/15agpguide.html
just scroll down to see the pictures of "not 1.5v" and such. That scared me, but thanks for the help, I really do appreciate it. /end newbie fear
Someone on another message board said that the 6800 OC will automatically switch to a 1.5v usage, is this true? I've been scouring the internet for answers, but I still could use some insightful clarification. I'm in panic mode, help me obi-wan (insert your last name here), you're my only hope.
I just bought a bundle from zipzoomfly.com and got this
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/...uctCode=80717-R-240412
When I got the motherboard, I decided to leaf through the manual and it said that it only supports 1.5v video cards. I looked at my geForce 6800OC and it only has one notch (two...
thanks for the info! I'll definately check it out. I'm scouting for goodies to beef up my new rig I'm building in two weeks.. =D
But first... I have finals. >=(
I'm already familiar with Stardock's products, and I would like to know if any of you would have ideas about mods such as taskbar, icons, other additions to make the boring old windows GUI a little cooler.
Thank your Mrvile.
Thermalrock, I don't think I'd much like a prebuilt system. Paying for OEM versions of XP is useless when I have they copy I'm operating with. This computer is going to be scrapped for parts. Prebuilts are a waste of money to me.
I'm looking to build a rig in mid-december and I was wondering what options I have for the boards. I've already got the other parts picked out Newcastle 3500+ and am planning on a 6600 GT but haven't really seen any boards with PCI-E. =\
*newbie moment* I originally thought PCI and PCI-E...
I'm going to build myself a nice gaming rig, and by nice I mean decently fast but not overly fancy (like water cooling and such)
My question is, is the extra 200 bucks really worth it? Will the 6600 have the usefull lifespan as the 6800? I'm just think that saving about 200 bucks is 2/3 of an...
Just wondering, would a 6600 GT be better bang for your buck than a 6800 GT?
Do you think the 6800 GT will be competitive much longer than the 6600?? I want a fast card that will last me a while, so I'm wondering if the 6800 GT is worth the extra 200 bucks.
The big bottle for most games is the Video Card. Upgrading RAM (past 512)/CPU/HDD will only give you small overall boosts unless you have the video technology to back it up.
I'd take the advice of "LanFear" and get the 6600 GT when it comes out. It's proven to take care of Doom 3 with...

I think I'll take your guys' advice and wait for socket 939, I like the idea of being able to upgrade! >=D
I'm a college student, so money isn't the fastest possible route to computer euphoria. I have been saving for a while and probably won't be able to upgrade for a couple years. I'm a gamer, so I'll give a couple other important specs. I'm hoping to get 3 years out of this rig without a need...
I got about 1600 I want to spend on my rig, I've got the HD/Vid Card... etc planned out, however, I was wondering if going with an Athlon 64 3400+ on a nForce3/VIA k8t800 or waiting and spending 100-150$ more on the nForce4/3500+ (I'm guestimating on the price) would be worth it. The big...
