best vacuum for pet hair

I saw the 'Animal' Dyson, but $500!! Is it really worth that?! That just seems so expensive. I've tried little units here and there, and they don't even come close to doing the job. The best thing so far has been a shop vac (this is on hardwood floors.) But the shopvac was too large to keep...

best vacuum for pet hair

I have a 100 lb chocolate lab that I wouldn't trade for a million bucks. His hair, on the other hand, I would pay to get rid of. I'm looking for a vacuum cleaner that'll suck the paint off a bowling ball and not clog within a second of use. Any recommendations?
