Why would they take away sales from their new line by launching a new product in January? Releasing a whole new product line 2 months after your new line hit the market wouldn't make much sense.

It does work it just doesn't decode WMV9 like the 6600 and 6200 lines. It will still decode MPEG2. I think everyone is just being silly now. Why don't you run over to ATI and use their video processor.... oh wait they don't have one.
They sell the box usually for a loss and make money off licensing games. Plus in the volumes Microsoft purchases the chips they get a great discount ;)
I'd go with the 6800GT. You won't see that much of a difference between the two just like you won't notice a difference between an x800XT and an X800XTPE. You can find the 6800GT for as low as 379.00 so price to performance I'd say it's the better buy.

It asks you to do that because sometimes AV can messup an install. You can leave your av on but if you have any problems installing it's best to disable it.
