When are keyboard or screen hooks legitimate?

I recently installed Snoop Free Privacy Shield on my computer, and it reported both Microsoft Outlook and Adobe Acrobat as applications that were requesting access to the screen and/or keyboard. Are there instances where these requests are legitimate, or do I have a keylogger lurking on my system?

Frequent Blue Screen Crashes - No Pattern

I didn't remove the cooling system, but I did connect the pump to a separate PSU, so the pump was taking no power from the rest of the computer. The crashes continue at about the same rate. If anyone has suggestions on how to proceed, I'd very much appreciate it.

Gigabyte 6800GT Heatpipe Fan Falling Apart

Thanks for the suggestions, but I was hoping to keep the heatsink and just replace the fan. I haven't had any luck finding a replacement that matches the 3 bracket mounting style. If I have to replace the whole heatsink and fan assembly, I'll just go to liquid cooling.

HDD not recognized?

I had the same problem with my SATA drivers a short while ago. I had to scrounge up floppy drive to load my drivers, but it did the trick. You might also want to make sure you set your BIOS to recognize USB mouse and keyboard, in case you have them.

I hadn't really given much thought to tinkering with the voltage or timings of the memory. How should I make the setting changes? Should I use the Guru utility that came with the motherboard, or change the settings some other way? BIOS?

Oh yeah! Finally a question I can answer! My Abit AV8 had the same problem with my AMD Winchester CPU. And it is the BIOS version. Once I got a new BIOS chip, it started like a dream.

I think so. Abit sent me a new BIOS chip to replace the old chip. The old chip wouldn't recognize my Winchester (90 nm) CPU. I believe that it has BIOS version 1.6, but I'll have to double-check to be sure. Are there any BIOS settings that could be causing the problem?

I never reassigned the IRQ, I just moved the sound card to another PCI slot and XP gave it another IRQ number. Problem solved. I'm a little fuzzy on the I/O addresses. I ran msinfo32 and noticed several I/O addresses that are shared with the video card and something else, but I'm clueless...

Sorry. I haven't found that post. Was it related to particular models or lot numbers? The PSU should have more than enough juice to run the computer. The video card is only sharing a line with the DVR. The funny thing is that the card ran fine with my kid's generic 250 W PSU.

As an update to my previous message, I installed my son's old GeFroce 2 w/ 64 MB of video memory and played an unterrupted, if slow and choppy game of Doom 3. No crashes, no blue screens. Does this mean I have a bad video card, or something else. Thanks
