Single card setup
1. Looks like different heatsink
2. Same fan speed profile
I tried replacing the TIM which didn't help. Do you think an aftermarket heatsink would bring the temps down?
I have a HIS 6850 and a XFX 6850. Under load, no overclocking at 24c ambient temperature the XFX hits 72c but the HIS hits 82c. I've tried swapping the pci-e slots and aiming a case fan at the HIS card which didn't really help the temperature. For this reason I believe it's either: (a) a less...
I installed two Radeon HD 6850 graphics cards in an Antec Super Lanboy case. The case has two 120mm Yate Loon fans: One at the front in the bottom directing cool air in and one at the back near the cpu directing hot air out. Running stock (no overclocking) at 24C ambient temperature the top...
I just acquired a Radeon HD 6850 video card and I noticed it extends over my SATA ports. I looked inside the plastic shroud and the whole area that's covering the SATA ports is empty. Is it OK to remove the black plastic casing around the card? Will it affect cooling? Would it void my warranty...
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Motherboard

SATA 3GB/s
PCI Express x16 slot available!
I'm thinking about filling the machine with four 1.0 TB or 1.5 TB drives and a raid card.
I might run windows, linux or freeNAS as an operating system so...
I was reading a thread that actually recommended the amd64 distro for an Intel Q6600. I'm a little confused- can someone explain which distro is right for me?
Thanks!

Strange enough.... I unplugged it and plugged it into a different SATA port. Fixed the problem.
I was able to replicate the error and test the fix again by returning it to the original SATA port. It worked.
I have a 150GB Raptor drive that is fairly new and in great condition. SMART is looking good. Its absolutely not a mechanical error or a physical problem because I've had this exact problem before and can't remember how I fixed it for the life of me.
The drive gets reformatted between HFS+...
Is the Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 the way to go for terabyte storage? Fast is important to me- I have two raptor-x drives currently. More importantly, because it is my storage drive I'd like it to be stable. Is this the way to go? How much have they been selling for on sale recently?
What are my...
Currently, I have an external hard drive that I backup and put in a fireproof/waterproof safe.
I'm thinking about paying to have it backed up off site... any recommendations?
I'd probably die if I lost all my code, pictures, etc...
Ah I guess its a bios setting that enables OCUR support...
so no way to get cable card support without buying a special PC to do so?
I wonder if I could get the like 40-50 HD channels (im guessing at the number) that I receive with a regular tuner. I don't have any premium stuff like HBO...
See here...

I want to do it internally. Why wouldn't it work if I was able to get my hands on an OCUR card?
I really want to build a home theather PC. I have comcast and I get a lot of channels in the 800 range that are HD. Mostly network stations, discovery channel, etc. However, I'm not sure which of the stations are encrypted and which are not. If I can't record in HD, I don't see the point.
I...
I purchased this item as an open box special from Newegg about 3 weeks ago. Newegg only covers the item for 15 days, do you think ASUS will still RMA the board? Not sure if open box has any warranty implications.
Hmm... I wonder how hard it would be to re-install it.
See Picture
The copper on the right hand side of this picture (to the right of the cpu socket) I can wiggle up and down pretty substantially. Is this normal?
The other copper (heatpipe cooling) on the board is extremely firm and won't budge at all.
Thanks
I wonder how this stacks up to coollaboratory pro or mx-2...
(Both own the &*$#! out of Arctic Silver.)
Read some reviews... seems like the two I mentioned are still the way to go!
According to the sticky you're supposed to disable "spread spectrum." I see options for PCIe and CPU spread spectrum. Should I disable both?
On the FSB, I can see it but it won't let me push enter to change it. What is going on?
I can't find the PCI Clock Synchronization setting... where...
I'm looking for a new power supply to replace my OCZ 600W SLI. I love my PSU, it runs rock stable even when I scrutinize it with a multimeter. The fan is pretty loud and the wires are ugly.
Stable
It has to be very stable. I'll be overclocking a bunch and I'd like to minimize ripples...
Good looking out. Unfortunately that will take entirely too long.
I'm trying to build a Hackint0sh PC with a L737B Q6600 chip on high end cooling.
The goal: 4 Gigabytes (ram), 4 Gigahertz, 4 Cores.
New uphuck OSx86 DVD being released on broken stones tonight.
Please delete this post!
Anyone have this ram? I ordered the 2x2GB set and am hoping to run it at DDR 888.
Thanks!
Canceled my order. Heard too many bad things about this memoryh.
So if I take the same computer and I hook it up wired to my new Verizon FIOS service I get a 15 Megabit connection according to the speakeasy bandwidth test. If I unplug the wired connection and connect with a wireless card (right next to the unit!) and make a strong 54 megabit wireless...
Copy from one Western Digital 4000YR (eSata) to 2x 150gb Raptor (Sata, Raid 0).
I'm getting like 6-11MB/sec.
Does this sound right?
IMPORTANT Weird... It transfers for like 10 minutes then it says out of memory. The partition it is tranfering to is 35/240 GB at the moment. According...
Definately supports it because it worked fine in XP. I'm just using my motherboard here with an external hard drive. There a little thing that takes up a PCI slot and connects to a SATA port. I don't see any vista (or XP) drivers for that matter for eSata.
Ok. So I've recently setup vista ultimate 32bit. I have two problems.
#1) My external hard drive supports eSata. On windows XP I could turn my hard drive on after booting and it would detect it and work fine. On vista, I need to go to device manager and select "Scan for hardware changes."...
I just activated the guest account. I went to log on for the first time and it said please wait while it sets up the desktop. After a few minutes of waiting I hit CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the taskmanager and I saw like 50 windows open that say:
"Windows cannot open this file."
Select a...
Don't reply about the effectiveness of raid 0 please!
(1) I'd like to stripe a 150gb raptor I purchased when they originally came out with a 150gb raptor-x. The raptor-x is brand new. When I looked at the numbers, one is R0 and one is R1. I'm assuming this stands for revision. I hope this...
