I would probably go for a reinstall of windows to clean out those driver remains, but that's pretty extreme. You may just need to defrag your hard drive.
I had similiar problems with my CRT and eventually all CRTs. They just made my eyes sore and gave me tired eyes like you are experiencing. I just stopped using them and bought an LCD, now I can look at screens for hours and not get sore or tired eyes.
Trust me, buying an LCD is a good...
E0 stepping.
I did have a LGA 3.2 Ghz but I bought a Vapochill PE and the LGA775 socket kit + better overclocking motherboard to run LGA775 was going to be another $500 or something, so I just decided to go with S478.
It did provide a few more seconds stability before erroring on SuperPI again. I've been all up the vcore ranges and tried maximum vdimm, so the only thing left is to lower the clock speed?
Well you see I was running at 250 FSB and the memory is DDR550 and running at stock timings so still well under stock memory speeds.
I've tried increasing the vcore up from 1.4375v to 1.4875v so far but still getting the superpi error in <10secs.
My friend was telling me that SuperPI...
As per the title my system is dual Prime 95 stable (Large FFTs) for 19hrs before I stopped it, but when I run SuperPI it will error in less than 1 second?
What's up with that? Is SuperPI a better indication of stability? I find it hard to believe the Prime95 will go for 19hrs without any...
I play BF2 perfectly fine with 1GB and 1280x1024 with all settings on high except 'texture'.
1GB is still just fine. If the game needs more than 1GB then the game developers need to optimise it some more. No need to create bloatware games like BF2.
Not much at all, if anything.
I used to have an Audigy 2 ZS with EAX 4 and I didn't notice any difference in games like BF-V which uses EAX3. In fact my HDA 7.1 Mystique Gold with EAX2 sounds a lot better in games.
The 65nm Yonah might have some low heat/power usage? Dothan 770 is about 27W.
With graphics chips like the mobility X800 XT on a laptop, are they an add-in type card or are they part of the motherboard? Can you even buy them seperately?
100GB would be heaps. I could just make a fileserver back home with all the good stuff on it.
Those mobility X800 XT cards only use 33W apparently.
With graphics chips like that on a laptop, are they an add-in type thing or are they part of the motherboard?
What things would you take out to make it into a portable one? Smaller hard drive?
For sound cards maybe I could use Intels 7.1 HD Audio or are there many of those slot in sound cards around like the PCMCIA Audigy 2 ZS?
Hi,
Are there any online sites that let you specify exactly what components you can put in your laptop? I'm edging towards the more powerful type components that would replace a desktop system.
I'm thinking something along the lines of:
Latest Dual Core Pentium-M or AMD mobile chip...
With the X2 or dual core P4s how does the memory controller work with 4 sticks of memory in? Do two of the sticks run in dual channel on one core, and the other two sticks in dual channel for the other core?
Thanks. :)
I assume you want the 4400+ because it's got the same cache amount as the 4800+, also it's cheaper and would overclock further than the 4800+ at stock?
Why does BF2 need so much memory? It's not like the textures are better looking than HL2s, yet HL2 performs a lot better. Couldn't they just compress them better to make more efficient use of memory? The HL2 engine is much better performance wise and looks better than the BF2 one.
Try a repair of windows from the CD. Or start -> run -> sfc /scannow. Possibly some windows files have been corrupted and the BF2 files as well because you had them open when you were playing. So a reinstall of BF2 would be in order as well.
Thought I'd give you guys an update. Got the RAM today and here are the results. You may need to scroll sideways to get them all.
With the Sandra tests I've copied how Anandtech did the unbuffered tests here. With the new RAM in I had to drop to 2-3-3-6 because the new RAM won't do 2-2-2-5 @...
Try get another 2x512mb of the same stuff which when running 4x double sided DIMMs actually provides a good bandwidth boost on Intel systems. Everest Home Edition or Sandra should be able to find the brand/details of the RAM. Last resort would be to look in the case and read it off the label.
Yep, I can do that no problems. Used them all before. :) That would be the way to go about testing it.
It hasn't arrived yet, I expect it this week with some luck. Ordered it from ZipZoomFly and got a mate to send it to me. To buy that same stuff new in NZ it's twice the price no joke.
The...
Thanks, I've read through those and this is interesting:
Using 4 sticks seems to have better performance. Very unexpected. But they have to be identical...
I'm confused about what they define as "identical" dual sided sticks. I think all my sticks are TCCD based, but would running them at...
Hi, sorry if this has already been asked before, I can't find the information with search.
I've already got 2x512MB Corsair XL 2-2-2-5 in dual channel running. I bought some Corsair PC4400C25 2x512MB dual channel kit which runs at 2-2-2-5 at DDR400 I think and 2.5-4-4-8 @ DDR550.
I was...
Seconded. 2x1GB would be nice. It will help make gameplay smoother when you enable high textures & details because at the moment even with 1GB it will use the swap file a lot so this results in stuttering in the game. It's not good when you're flying around then it stutters, causing you crash...
