I've been using SIS 645 or 655 chipsets in my home system since they came out. I've used the same 1.8a in them. I run all my games at 2.3g without problems. I don't see what's buggy about them. My cpu won't do 2.4g without Prime95 having errors, but it is an early northwood chip.
Sorry I didn't read this post sooner. I went from a BX chipset to a sis645 in xp by using the boot disks. I selected install then repair. It worked well untill my airconditioner went out and scrambled XP. Now I can't get it to repair or install. the mouse and keyboard wont repond in XP,lol. They...
I have the same problem
My sensor temp commonly gives readings as high as 69c. I havent seen smoke yet.lol
I think the sensor is off.
I have a 1.8a/epox 4sda overclocked to 2.2g. Prime crashes at 2.4, but all other benchmarks run fine at 2.4g
Games won't run stable at 2.4 either. So, I set it...
Thanks to all who have posted this thread. I am not alone.
I to have had the same experience it seems. I have a 1.8a , epox 4SDA , and 256ddr crucial system. I was blown away when I booted it up to 2.4g and ran hot cpu test lite all night long. I neglected to download prime 95, but ran pcmark...
Update F15,
I bought an Epox 4SDA/1.8a/256 crucial oem. I get no crashes at 2.4g until i run a game or prime95!!!
Prime will not run untill I reduce my cpu speed. First good test of prime(5hrs) completed at 124mHz FSB.
I could go/try faster. When prime failed at 2.4G(133mHz FSB) it only took a...
Hi AMD,
Take a look at these.
Gigabyte GA-8SDX-3 DIMM slots...Sis 645
Shuttle AV-41 -3 DIMM slots...P4X266
I've been looking too, but now I am going with an EPOX 4SDA DDR board. Maybe:)
If you friend needs more than 3 Dimm slots he has got some tough choices to make. There aren't any...
To all,
Is anyone using any sis645 chipset motherboard with a 3.3volt AGP card?
I wanting to get a Gigabyte GA-8SDX, but I want to use my V5500 with it.
Some manufaturers claim they are compatible. ABIT and SOLTEX in fact
Thanks an Advance
Yes , but power isn't the issue. V5500 uses 3.3volt signaling to transfer data from the agp slot.. New Agp4x cards use 1.5 volt signaling. I'd guess they can due to their smaller Gpu size. (.18 micron dies). It would take a lot less time and work to condition a 1.5 volt signal to work faster as...
Athlex,
I'm not the know it all genius of AGP, but Ive been bustin' my butt trying to find a P4-Sdram solution. Just so you know the new AGP 4x spec. call out of a 1.5 volt slot. There is no 5 volt agp slot. Other than that , you seem to have the facts straight.
.Check out anand's FAQ
the gigabyte and msi boards have three memory slots and the ecs board has two sdram slots.
wiz,
i hope you have some big memory sticks if you hope to get the whole 768 installed. You know there are a lot of voodoo users that are die hard intel too.
News flash,
There are several makers with sdram p4 chipsets that can operate a 3.3volt agp slot!!!
The sis 645 and via p4x266 are the chipsets used. Gigabyte(8SDX), Msi(MS-6559) and ECS all build units that will run the P4. There are many more minors makers as well. I have yet to verify how...
Support a AGP2x Video card. Like my old Voodoo 5500?
Looking to upgrade, but don't need to get rid of my video card. I run Flightsims, and so far I'm good up to IL-2/Falcon4.
It sure would be nice to go Intel and jump my framrate up a notch.
the materials you use to stop condensation are everything. i bought a leufkins kit for my p3 600 and have been using it for over three months. the kits(75 watt) costs about 10.00 more than the peltier alone. i live in Miami Florida as well. the only modifcation i've made to the kit was to...
it is possible with the right bios(ver QN). i have a 1.02 rev. BH6 mother board. i overclocked my P3 600 to 800mHz on it. which version motherboard do you have?
P.S. Jack's post is correct. you will have to pay attention to problems caused by a high PCI buss speed. i didn't have any because i...
i have the mv700 monitor as well. i had what sounds like the same problem too. the problem for me was that the cablethat connects the monitor's mic to the sound port is mono 1/8th inch and the sound card required a stereo 1/8th inch connection.
one trip to radio shack for a mono to stereo...
tnx for the reply.
win98se doesn't have the options you've pointed out though. you have got me thinking again thank you. i'm just about out of things to try LOL. if you have any other ideas please post 'em

i overclocked a p3 600e to 800mHz on my bh6 1.02. that board liked good quality cas3 memory better than cas2 type. i ran it like this for 4 months until i bought a MSI BXmaster. i'll put it this way. when i put the coppermine in the bh6 it ran never crashed unless i was running a game (falcon4)...
i do not have this problem with my bx master motherboard. i have used the 2nd , 3rd , and fourth memory slots. i have a larger heatsink so don't use the 1st slot.
600e@800+ mHz , V5 , 128mb cas2 crucial , fireport40 scsi , AWE64

best i could set my system to FROM BOOT UP was 124 mHz FSB. BUT a speed program called Fuzzy Logic comes on the Motherboard CD. it's in the utility folder i think. install it to go even higher. if your memory will let you .
i have a 600e. with Fuzzy Logic i can go well beyond 800 mHz.
