Hi Lopri, Thanks for the answer. I've never been a big fan of fancy memory with big heatsinks. I am going for basic Crucial or Kingtom DDR3 1333 sticks with this build. I'll just set the RAM to DDR 1066 and push it upwards from there for overclocking if heat is a concern. I've never noticed...

6800 Ultra upgrade from 9800 Pro, worth it?

THanks for the advice guys. Do you think maybe I could squeeze some more performance out of my 9800 Pro on the cheap by overclocking it? If I bought an Artic Cooling AVC-RT1 I could mount it on my 9800 Pro and OC it. Or would the performance increase be so miniscule it would be a waste of my time?

6800 Ultra upgrade from 9800 Pro, worth it?

Serial ATA much faster than Normal ATA?

You won'y see much of a diffrence unless it a high end high RPM drive like a Western Digital Raptor 10k. If you trust WD (I don't, at work we have 58 that died within a year) then those drives will give you pretty good encoding performance. You will probably want two of them in a RAID O config...

When is your Hard Drive worked the hardest?

My hard drive works very hard when I run Photoshop CS and use the file browser to view RAW files from my cameras. Opening Photoshop is also a strain. Shuffling my pictures from one hard drive to another also gives my HDDs a HUGE workout.
