GTX 1080 Ti Help Gigabyte vs MSI

The gigabyte white cards are very cheap feeling and quite light. The Evga ones feel like tanks and have better temps. Might try an MSI one.

No ratification of DDR4 3200Mhz?

Most of the ddr4 3000 and up are running above 1.2v usually around 1.35v. That puts them out of spec. So we will probably not see jedec ddr 3000+.

Ghost Recon Wildlands PC Gameworks Tech trailer

The beta wasn't too impressive, the vehicles drove funny as always. Maybe final will be better. Just not as good as Ghost Recon 1. Its really fun to mess around though, like GTA.

My i7 7700k Has Arrived - Insights, Benchies & Overclocks Inside (Now With Delid!)

WOW 5.0GHz sounds real yummy. I went through 8 samples of 6700k and non would go past 4.6GHz stable, and I delidded them so the temps were really low. Really want to drop in a 7700 on my asrock z170 7 at home, and the Ivy Bridge at work is showing its age, even at 4.5GHz.

Would you consider the GTX1060 3GB worthy if it was 25€ cheaper?

I got a 1060 3GB mobile. Its amazing, kills it in blizzard games at ultra detail 1080p. Getting over 100fps easily. Don't play too much hardcore games, but will try later. I don't think i get those numbers on insane with my 1080 at 1440p.

PS4 Pro GPU

More like a Celeron. But the xbmc video app is amazing. It can faster forward smoother than ANYTHING PERIOD. I haven't tried that many video players on PC but nothing was that smooth.

4770k vs 4790k For Gaming?

No lapping at all. That is just too much work. All the processor went down more than 10C. I did 4 6700K, didn't really help o/c that much, only could get them to about 4.6 fully stable with about 1.325-1.35voltage. One got to 4.7 on 1.425v and hits 84C on a hyper 212 evo on Prime95. It would hit...

Its quite easy with the razor blade. I've just done 10 and it was quite fun. I even did my Celeron/Pentiums. Skylake is easiest as there are no capacitors underneath the IHS. Use liquid Ultra for best results. I didn't try other pastes to compare, but will try kyronaught, arctic ceramique, MX2...

when HBM 980Ti comes out, it will be a beast, and will probably trounce the Titan by a good margin, just like every other Ti that came after. That thing must be quite bandwidth starved and giving it that much food will be amazing. Wait it out guys!

If you like owning the best, wait for the 1080. If you don't regret owning something second rate, get the 1070. Actual tangible performance almost irrelevant they are close enough.

Should Intel ditch "Celeron", or does it serve a purpose?

I agree keep celeron to bay trail now that they retired atom. I got a skylake pentium g4400 and its damn fast. Now the i3 - i7 is kinda stupid too, what do the numbers mean? Where is the i9? I7 can have 2-8 cores from laptop to -E. So dumb.

What do you consider the best value in used processors today?

$7 is skipping a venti latte, not bad if your mobo supports it. They do have bare systems with 3ghz haswell penguins for around 125-150 at dell though. Just add ssd and you got a screamer.

Intel Skylake / Kaby Lake

I've had tons of tablets in XP days, they had their own OS, tablet PC edition. Just because they are popular again because of ipad doesn't mean they don't work with Win7. In fact Vista had TONs of tablet features added on of tablet pc edition of XP.

Best cpu stresser for Lynnfield

If you want real world test for stability, do 4K encoding in Handbrake, and let StarcraftII or even WarCraft3 AI go mental with tons of units. My favorite is run custom map in Warcraft III and cast Starfall on a full map. That will crash any system thats not stable.

Q6600 safe temperatures for 24/7 operation

When i do mining I hammer all my chips 24/7 at 90C. have over a dozen CPUs and 3 dozen GPUs, none have died yet. CPUs are generally at lot more hardy than GPUs also. Most miners will tell you its rare to have the actual chip fail, its usually VRM on gpu or mobo.

Has enough time passed to trust 850 EVO?

It took them almost a year to finally admit to the 840 EVO issues, the 850 EVO only came out on DEC, so i would not say it is past any point yet. Regardless they are having some crazy firesales on them and i got a bunch anyways at it is almost cheaper than any other SSD!

Not only can a single drive fail, there could be RAID 0 Failures in the drive, but i've also encountered many RAID failures in software/driver, OS, or controllers. In fact probably more often than actual drive failures. If you're not up with dealing with that, i'd stick to single drive.
