You really won't see a noticeable difference with a 4850. Sure you'll see a bit more on the framerate department but that doesn't mean it will actually matter in your gameplay. You said you have around 40 fps, nothing wrong with that really, at least according to my book.
Ok ignore me, I'm a complete newb.. I thought the core/mem values are fixed since I didn't see configuration options for 2d and 3d. So yeah, when I fire a 3d application the frequencies correctly jump to overdrive's settings. Yeah, first timer using CCC :S
Got an ati 2900gt today and having some issues with overclocking it.
For starters, I knew that in order for overdrive to get activated I needed to plug a 8 pin power connector to it. Since I didn't have one I went with a 6 pin one knowing I would not be able to overclock it it, at least using...
I'll be getting a DMM soon but till then I won't do anything. And I defo won't trust asus probe.
Asus probe: ~11.3
Speedfan: ~11.9
PCWizzard: ~12.1
Yeah, I won't trust software readings for sure :P
Either my mobo or CPU died, I really can't tell and right now I cannot afford to buy either (assuming I could find the mobo somewhere). Thanks for the info guys.
I guess you'd like to somehow borrow a cpu from a friend or something for a quick test. Otherwise what Lokutus said. Even without the cpu the pc should attempt to post and ideally beep beep that cpu is missing (might report that cpu is faulty, same thing pretty much in your case).
Large monolithic gpus = more expensive to make and less wield/waffer. Obviously gtx's are more expensive to make. Only a true fanboi would think otherwise.
Well, if you don't really need the extra performance from the overclock then just don't do it imo. Pointless to be wasting power and potentially (though unlikely) shortenning the lifespan of your GPU.
I really don't think response times matter anymore. Unless you have superhuman vision 2 vs 5 vs 8 ms shouldn't matter to you. I personally have a quite old LG sporting 12ms and I never noticed any ghosting whatsoever. I think you should focus on color reproduction and contrast/brightness and not...
Its not just the capacitors that are dangerous, the AMPs running are enough to easily kill you. Don't risk your life, buy a bigger case or run it externally but closed.
On my previous system (that died) I had a raid0 setup using the A8V's mobo onboard promise controller. Is there a way to somehow recover the data ? From my understand I'd have to reconnect the drives on the same mobo but thats out of the question atm :/
I'm pretty sure its impossible to...
No I won't buy a new PSU just like that. I was just wondering if fluctuating voltages and low +12v are signs of PSU degradation. Assuming software readings are correct to begin with. So its partially a theoritical question.
I don't have any particular problems, no. Its just that the 2900gt is apparently power hungry and my PSU is 4 years old so I'd like to prevent things from getting fried before its too late :D I fully understand that software readings can easily be false, no doubt. Unfortunately I don't have a...
I got the 2900gt (new) for 30 pounds (=~$44) and since I'm only playing WoW @ 1280 it should be more than adequate. I guess if PSU fails to deliver the AMPs I'll buy a new one :S Any recommendations? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/...w%202-Force%20II%20PSU should be more than enough and I trust...
After checking system voltages with cpu-z and asus probe i get the following:
asus probe reports:
vcore: 1.28-1.31
+3.3: 3.30-3.31
+5: 4.92-4.95
+12: 11.25-11.31
cpu-z:
vcore: 1.296-1.312
In other words all my voltages fluctuate a bit. Is this healthy normal behaviour? I'm...
Did some searching around. While card has an 8-pin connector it works fine with a 6-pin one and includes a molex-to-6pin. Though if you run it on a 6-pin overdrive is disabled. Not a big deal for me and I guess I could buy an adaptor at a later point. Right now I just need a card that can play a...
Thanks for the fast reply :)
Obviously it'll be a single card solution. I found a 2900GT for less than 30 pounds Obviously it'll be a single card solution. I found a 2900GT for less than 30 pounds ()"]link) and I think price/perfomance ration is really good. My only concern now is that I read...
Long story short, my 4-year old setup (A64+ 3500 agp/ddr1 based) pretty much went bananas so I got some some old pieces from a friend.
A64 x2 4200+
2gigs of ddr2
Asus M2V (KT890 based)
Unfortunately the graphics card he had was a horrible 7300 LE (my old one was a 6800gt). I don't really...
well sure there are reviews out there but I always prefer some public end user opinions. thus any1 out there with the card ? i am 99% its another great card from BFG , no doubt about it. still , any issues with it ? I would also about the height of cooler , looks small enough on pics but I would...
should be easy to get gtx clock speeds. shaders is a whole different thing as they are hard locked on die and not bios soft locked.
like coomar said, nvidia learned from 6800 series :)
you shouldnt have the sligtest problem. if you have it will be most likely be your fault (forgetting to plug a power cable or something) or fault equipment.
Care to elaborate ? :)
Yup thats always a possibility (not that I really need 2gigs atm and could always wait for a future price drop)
Those OCZ modules wheren't the most wise choice after all (should have not listened to a friend about em) , even at DDR400 they wont even operate at...
thinking of getting these stuff together:
1) DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR
2) GeIL ONE 2x 512 BH5 (the CAS 1.5 thingies)
3) BFG GeForce 7800 GTX OC
4) Thermalright XP120
I am familiar with DFI + XP120 issues, problem is I already have XP120 on my current rig and since I am in love with it...
i think is the memory as well... 1gb 3200 would make a difference. check my sig for my results on mark and aqua. Well, 10k and 4.8k on mark sounds ok with your setup but 56k on aqua is too low. But you are using an intel cpu as well so we cant really compare rigs.
Back on topic never heard...
I cant find a single reason to OC a 6800U tbh. anyway "detect optimal frequencies" is kinda random and not really reliable from my experience. If your want to overclock your card start by increasing your core/memory speed by 5-10mhz and then try some games like doom3 and far cry (those 2...
