Just what is the point - 1Gb is good - but 10Gb+ just seems like a marketing stunt.
How can a company give you 10Gb (or even 100Gb) without stuffing it full of adverts - I am much happier with a few hundred megs and NO adverts!
That is a lot more effort to setup - especially if the user has multiple email addresses.
AuthSMTP is a simpler solution and works with other email programs that do not support multiple profiles etc.
Yeah I used to use it - it works until you find out your ISP blocks port 25 or you then find the people you are sending to block your emails because you are sending them from an IP address with invalid DNS entries.
Not knocking that SMTP server as it does work - but because of damn spammers...
You can test here... http://www.abuse.net/relay.html
I would either:
1. Make sure it is correct - but SMTP servers are frequently exploited.
2. Block inbound port 25 (SMTP) on your firewall (assuming you do not need to receive mail back!)
3. Don't use local SMTP and get your app. to...
Heard they were dropping making films and have already stopped making film cameras - so guess they need to get their money from somewhere.
But that patent seems very general!!
If you want a much simpler solution that works on every ISP I have tested it with - see AuthSMTP
VPN's etc are great but if you just want to solve the problem of outgoing mail that is much simpler! ;)
