Hey paradise, Thanks for the experimentation... I couldn't bring myself to do it. My opinion of the Gigabyte bios development effort for the 8KNS Pro is poor... Their recent updates have all been quirky (yes? no?). I wonder too, if they are expecting us to do alot of this field...

Hey TaiJohn, I had read this too... but I am not sure how to make use of the information. Clearly, 2x512mb at 200fsb is quiet common. And when there is an issue... change the motherboard, or memory and the issue goes away (haven't read anyone changing the cpu to get the problem to go...

Hey sne35, Hmmm, interesting question. In BIOS set your ram timings to manual after booting at 200 so that the timings are very conservative for <200 operation. Set memory to 166. Boot and then use Easytune to find the maximum clock speed. Go slowly, check stability with Prime95 blend...

Heck no this is not normal. Sounds like a funky connection. Make sure cabling is good. You can also try disabling automatic fan speed control on the bios page... PC Health Status, CPU Smart Fan Control.

Hey all, I received the Geil memory... I was disappointed to see that it was the 2.5-4-4-8 variety... I am sending it back. But for an experiment I put it in my machine... and it works fine at 200fsb. I was actually able to run 1:1 up to 216mhz. It was slower at the looser timings then...

Hey sne35, These are just my thoughts... hopefully others will chime in... As my signature shows, I have an AMD64 3200+ (2.2ghz,512kL2). I don't see the issue with temperature. When fully loaded and overclocked to 2.45ghz, high's are 53C, about right for an internal temperature reading...

Hey kongking, That's the issue... some folks can make it over 200fsb at 1T timings... but it is hit or miss. In my case I can not. Any thing over 197mhz and it coughs. Whatever you end-up with settings... it's always a great idea to verify stability with Prime95, Memtest86, SuperPI...
