FX series - DX9 or not?

FX series - DX9 or not?

I have a FX 5600 Ultra, and I bought it thinking that it was DX9 compatible and all that. However, especially on the Steam forums in regards to Half-Life 2, people mention that Nvida "dropped the ball on the FX series" and "FXs don't do DX9". I have this experience with HL2, where the game...

NICE Improvement w/new nVidia 70.90 Drivers!!

Anyone know if the newer drivers will make any difference on older cards like a FX 5600 Ultra?

How Do You Unlock Pipelines?

I know it's an old card, but anyone know if the FX 5600 Ultra had masked pipelines? Right now I believe it has 4, but I'd like to open it up to 8 if possible. Mine is from PNY, if that makes any difference.

Tbred XP 2600+ vs Barton 2600+

Status update: at 190 (max) the Tbred runs at 2.375 . I think the only limitation there is the memory, as he has Infineon memory rated at 333 Mhz while I have Corsair memory rated at 400 Mhz.

Tbred XP 2600+ vs Barton 2600+

I have some weird results here for you. I have two MSI K7N2 Delta-L's (one for me, one for my bro). He has the Tbred with 512 MB RAM, I have the Barton with 1024 MB RAM. At stock, the Tbred runs at 2083 with 256 L2 cache, while the Barton runs at 1983 with 512 L2 cache. Here's the wierd...

OC'ing Athlon, where do I need help?

The load temp of the processor at 1.75 is about 55C. I was thinking about testing each individual stick, but I'm wondering if this problem may be coming from the dual channel nature of the setup. Any experiences where dual channel doesn't help?

OC'ing Athlon, where do I need help?

I was burning-in with Sandrasoft at 195 with vcore 1.75 and 2.5-3-3-11, and I got a memory error inside Windows (Application Error: Memory at xxxx could not be read) although Memtest86 passed. My guess would be memory. However, the memory does function OK most of the time. Any advice as to...

OC'ing Athlon, where do I need help?

I have been checking stabilty first with Memtest86, and when I used to go over 190 with 2.5-3-3-7 and 1.675 vcore, it would give memory errors. Now I'm running at vcore 1.7 with 2.5-3-3-11 and it seems to be passing the memtest. I'm going to stress test all day today and get back to you guys...

OC'ing Athlon, where do I need help?

The board does indeed support dual channel, and the memory is on DC. The memory timings are 2.5-3-3-7, so the CAS should be 2.5 (from what I understand). By average I mean that it idles at 47-48 and loads at 52-53. Unfortunately it looks like I can't increase the voltage above 2.7...

AMD Sempron 2500+

What motherboard do you have? I know that MSI has just been adding Sempron support to their boards in their latest firmware releases. Try upgrading the BIOS, but be careful and follow all instructions carefully.
