We have a very real problem in our country with all of this. On one hand we want people to go out and be productive, but on the other how logical is it to work full-time with no benefits and make less than you would being on welfare.

I work this schedule as well, except at night. I go to work at 6pm and get off at 6am. I work 3 days on and 4 off then the next week 4 days on and 3 days off. It's a killer only because I have to switch from sleeping during the day to sleeping at night and back again in a short 3-4 day window.

I agree 100%. The Board and CEOs should be held liable for all actions made by their firms. This would keep things inline and not let things get out of control.
Where I live you will be hard pressed to find a job without a car. Many of the jobs even ask you about reliable transportation and no the bus is not good enough.
Collecting taxes in general is social engineering. The way they are collected or the way they are spent will be used to encourage or enforce certain behaviors.
Basically the only avenue of encouragement the government has is economic. Anything else they do is law. So I'm not really seeing how that is any different for an individual or a corporation.
What if giving a tax incentive is a cheaper solution than creating a new government agency or bureaucracy to get a certain desired outcome? You know the saying You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Yes people's and corporation's behavior. It's been that way since taxes started, and as long as taxes continue to be collected it will continue. It either comes in the form of how they are collected or how they are spent. Either way taxes are used to control behavior.
Just the act of collecting taxes is a social engineering mechanism. So, if you are going to collect taxes of any kind where are you going to draw the line on how they are collected, how they are spent and who (if anyone) receives any breaks??
I think a lot of people in this thread and even the OP are forgetting that taxes serve more than just 1 purpose. Taxes are not just to fund the government. They are used to encourage a single tax payer to participate in things that better the whole economy, the environment, the human race, etc.

Where does it stop though? That's the problem. The politicians get bought by the corporation who then wants this bought politician to give them an incentive or tax break to move jobs to their city, state, or country. The people who lose are the tax payers of the area.
Then there is the other side of the coin where corporations pit cities, states, countries against each other in a race to see who can give the biggest tax breaks or incentives.
Went through this just last year. It's tough. Like others have said you will know when it's time. The dog stops moving around, eating, etc. I feel for you OP it's a hard thing to deal with, but is part of being a responsible pet owner IMO.

I don't use ebay anymore and haven't for 4-5 years. Too much lying and BS on the site. When you ask a seller a specific question, they lie to you, and ebay/paypal sides with the seller it's time to quit using the site.

A good majority of the government employees are college graduates many of which have advanced degrees or posses training in specialized fields. Meanwhile the average private sector worker probably has about a 12th grade education and no specialized training of any sort.
