How do you tell how many pipes/vertex shaders are on your vid card? I have a eVGA geforce 6800gt 256mb. Thought it was default 16 pipes.

How to Overclock 6800 GT

Before you all yell at me for duplicate posts, I've tried searching and get too many (or no) results for "overclocking 6800 gt". I only need a quick reply, what programs should I use to overclock my eVGA 6800GT? Then I can run a search on those names and find what I need. Thanks.

BFG GeForce 6800gt OC @ BestBuy.com

you missed out on the micro center sale of the eVGA 6800gt's for $319. I tried getting another one online and it said it's no longer available. I picked my 1st one up from the microcenter in Cambridge, MA. Got the 2nd to last one left.

I've been looking at different X800 XT cards and noticed that there's a huge price range they can fall in (anywhere from $475-$700). The most obvious price difference seems to be PCI express hich I don't have so I won't consider those. But there are still some cards that are 8x AGP and $700...

ok it's happening almost instantaneously once i go into any game now...usually it will stay fine if I don't go into a game. Is it definitely the video card? I've never overclocked, but I downloaded a trial version of powerstrip to underclock (real word?) my card slightly just in case something...

CPU overheating shutting off computer

I'll try reapplying the heatsink soon, but I think it might be working fine, since it's absorbing so much of the heat successfully, and that's why it's getting super hot. The fan is working fine, i've even tried turning on a fan blowing straight into the case and keeping the heatsink fan on it...

important compatibility question

everything works great now with the router installed (tried this 6+ times). not quite sure why, cuz the desktop connected directly to the modem still doesn't work. any ideas why? anyways, thanks so much for the help

wow, i plugged in the router (i've tried this probably half a dozen times) and now everything works. So, i tried connecting my comp directly to the modem again and doesn't work. Everything works great with the router in between, but i'm still so confused as to why it won't work directly...

ok the router is working great, and so is the laptop (connected through the router), so both of these can communicate just fine with the cable modem. so it must be something with my desktop. the settings are default after the fresh install of xp and they're exactly the same as the laptop...

ok so slowly we're narrowing down what is the problem. I just got my router working, which means both the laptop and router have no problems communicating with the cable modem, so it must be my computer. It shouldn't be the settings, because both the laptop and desktop have identical network...

setup is exactly the same in both laptop and desktop, roadrunner required no additional software/settings but that wouldn't matter because I'm working with a fresh xp install. The 2 computers can be networked using my router (haven't tried using crossover cable though) so the desktop's...
