9400M comparable to what?

the 6800GT gets around 2600 at 3dmark 2006, that is comparable to the 9400M which gets 2,100. the 9400M also has a similar number of GPU transistors and bandwidth, as well as a core clock that 50% higher than the 6800GT. the performance should be similar.

every year or so there is another attempt to launch the e-book market, as if it were new, and every year it fades into obscurity. i believe this is because books are perceived as the ultimate convenience, pick it at your leisure, leave it on the shelf, loan it to a friend, do whatever you like...

my GX2 runs fine on a Corsair HX520, but i wouldn't wan to run it on a lesser PSU than that.

A Short (but incredibly powerful) article on contemporary motherboards

an excellent article, and very timely as i am looking to creating a mATX gaming machine and was therefore looking askance at the cheapo 780G boards available. Gigabyte need to make a high-quality "D" (ultra durable 2) mATX board using the 780G chipset.............. FAST!

does this card come on a smaller PCB than is used by the G92 cards? my LC16 case cannot take anything bigger than a 7950GT PCB and i would like an upgrade.................

lol, agreed. there is a crysis benchmark that shows the G92 GTS as being fractionally faster than a G80 GTX on high settings at 1920x1200.

I am deeply impressed with the card, but i have a severe aversion to cut-down products. A 128 SPU version clocked at 640MHz with 2000MHz GDDR memory would go down a treat. How about it?

Intel are making a great deal of fuss about ray-tracing becoming viable on 8-16 core penrhyn systems, using the excellent work of Daniel Pohl at the recent IDF. but why use CPU's? i accept that raster based GPU's are not optimised to do ray-tracing calculations, but surely 128+ unified FP...

Temporary Card for Bioshock

i am able to play bioshock at 1920x1200 on max settings with my 512MB 7950GT. the frame rate is about 25fps dropping to 15fps in high action. i have been pleasantly surpised.

Fallout 3 will stink like Deus Ex 2.

this is what Bethesda do, they tear-down and rebuild every new game, having tried to assess the core appeal of its predecessor. if you want Fallout 2.1 you will be in for a severe disappointment!

OpenGL 2.x and 3.0 APIs - OpenGL gets a *makeover* for DX10-class HW

i really hope that Carmack will stay with OpenGL because if he doesn't then OpenGL on the desktop is dead, even if it survives on handhelds which i care nothing for.

the 1950 Pro is probably a slightly better piece of hardware, but i would always go for the 7950GT if only because their linux drivers don't suck.
