Dolphin diving makes the hit boxes laggy so they don't match up with the model. This has never been fixed adequately (and this beta is supposedly still addressing the hitbox accuracy if you don't believe me) and *is* an issue to worry about.

I use gentoo. But if you just want to run some programs real quick, you might check out a livecd that lets you play in an environment without installing-- a la Knoppix or Kanotix.
