The gigabyte board, which I have, has issues with running high bandwidth ram and the general BIOS leaves a lot of to be desired. I'm sending mine back and waiting for the Asus Gene to be announced next week. Since I'll never go past 2 slot mem or 1-GPU that might work out well for me. Otherwise...
That seems to be where I'm headed. I don't feel like my 2600k @ 4.8 is slowing down my oc'd 980ti.
I do plan to get the 1080ti so I'm hopeful it aligns closely with Skylake-X. My SSD, case and PSU won't need replacing.
Would love to see a 2600k at 4.8 matched up with a skylake equivalent.
I game at 1600p and with an OC'd 980ti, I'm wondering what real gaming benefits I'd have.
I think the conclusion needs to be, if you're looking for a card two iterations behind, get the 290x and not the 780ti. Does that make everyone happy?
"On the flip side of that equation AMD [i]must[/] support their older architectures since most of their current lineup is based upon rebrands...
I have a 2600k with a 980ti and game at 2560x1600 without any bottlenecks. Oc your 2600k more. Should be able to run 4.6 easily by just upping the multiplier and everything else on auto.
I'd highly recommend a higher resolution screen also. You're basically commuting with a track car at this...
I sell mine often as I game at 2560x1600p so GPU power is always nice to have. It also helps soften the blow for the next one. The key is to move fast while the demand is good and not sit on it.
The rest of my rig is since 2011 so it's completely justified to me. yay for 2600k....
The question will become if/when that day does come are either card still relevant for their intended purpose?
Most people who buy high end GPU's tend to like to playing newer games at high settings and will generally upgrade their GPU's often to keep up.
Banking on future performance...
All good man. As you get more time with it, keep posting feedback. Can't wait to get this monitor.
As I've been doing research, nothing else seems to come close. I did see a few proper ratio'd 4k displays and they are tempting for sure! I think it'll come down to the wire for me but I really...
That's very close as I'm currently on a 3008wfp!
Can you give me some feedback on the following in a predator vs dell 3011 format?
color accuracy
color saturation
black levels
overall contrast
screen uniformity
60 vs 75 and if you can feel the difference is CS or other games (witcher...
Yeah that's what I figured. For newer games I can turn down AA and other GPU intensive features to maintain high FPS.
I currently use DSR at 2.0x from native 1600p and in games like CS:GO, dota 2, and hots isn't an issue to hit 100fps. Even BF4 with a few settings turned down runs well above...
What do you guys think of matching a 980ti with the upcoming Acer Predator 34inch utlra wide screen with GSync at 100hz?
I'm currently on a dell 3008wfp (2560x1600) so I think it'll be a nice experience change going ultra wide and a much higher refresh rate.
Any reasons why i should hold off?
I was an early adopter of 1920x1200 back in the day and then 2560x1600.
This G-Sync XR341 seems like it'll be my upgrade from the dell 3008wfp I've had for many years now. It's a fantastic display still but I'm looking forward to a change.
My 2600k is running at 4.5ghz
16gb of RAM
Samsung 1TB 850 Pro
Resolution = 2560 x 1600
I like to play all my games natively. I could sell my 980 and 780Ti and jump to a 980 ti but would it actually give me a good bump or am I going to be CPU limited?
My 780ti is right around 1200 core so it's certainly not worth swapping out for. However, the bigger version of this card will be pretty amazing esp once they do a node reduction.
Sorry to high jack but what's considered the best 1600p monitor currently out?
I have a dell 3008 which is still working great but when playing games like CS:GO and other shooters it seems to struggle.
Used the samsung clone utility and it worked great! All things are working as they should but just a tad bit faster :)
Turned on Rapid 2.0 to see how it does over the next few days of usage.
I currently have M4 SSD as my OS drive and some old HDD for data.
I have a 1TB 850PRO coming in tomorrow and would like to move everything do it instead of reinstalling the OS.
Should I just use the Samsung Magician utlility or are there better options?
Also additional 8GB of RAM should...
Don't see a point until the faster version of maxwells are released. My 780ti at 1150 core is smoking fast.
Having said that, the 980 does seem to oc well also. I think at best the 980 is a lateral upgrade to the 780ti
Thanks Joker. Doesn't seem like the svl7 goes much higher on the power draw than what I currently have.
I'm just messing around while my Ti step up gets approved. Pretty happy with 1240/7000 performance so far. Will be a bit annoyed if my Ti is an over clocking dud though :(
Help me out here.
I'm running the sky3t bios on my 780GTX SC ACX. At 1.212 my core is 1241 and mem is 7000mhz.
I keep reading that with the LLC mod, I can get better clock speeds on the core but I don't know how that works in conjunction with the skyn3t bios. Any ideas?
I'm basically...
I can't recall from back in the dya because my buddy used to build my PC's for me. However since I started:'
x800xt PE
x1800xt
x1900xt
8800GTX (amazing card)
580GTX
780GTX
I have a dell 3008wfp which I really like due to the screen size. However, for gaming it seems a bit slow. What's the best 30inch on the market at this time?
3014 or something else?
Tried the other BIOS. No love :( My core is just limited to 1241.
Maybe I'll just get a classified or Titan if the new AMD cards are mediocre.
Titan OC seems to be hit n miss through from what I researched. Some are great, some are duds. No real norm.
Playing BF3 at 1600P and Ultra on...
Appreciate the detailed response!
Water isn't an option for me (due to lazyness) so I'm more focused on air cooling with the stock coolers.
Do the VRM's pop even if I keep the mem at 7000 and just want to OC the core with a higher voltage? or is it more of a whatever max voltage you set...
Question:
I currently have a 780GTX SC ACX. I can't get it go past 1241 core even with a voltage upto 1.212. I'm currently stable with 1240core/7000mem at 1.187 volts.
I'm thinking of getting a classified card. Am I more or less guaranteed a better Overclock with a Classified card? I see them...
